If you're excited about Unreal Tournament 3 this November, join the club. But if you're sitting there, holding your breath for a PS3 demo before the final release, we suggest you get some air. While there will be a PC demo of the game, Epic Games' Mark Rein says we shouldn't expect a demo for the PS3.
"We'll have a PC demo for UT, [but] I don't think we'll have a PS3 demo before the game ships," Rein told Eurogamer during the Games Convention 2007 in Leipzig.
Awww… That's too bad. But we can't have a demo for everything, and besides, Rein has his reasons for not preparing a demo for the PlayStation Store. He compared the UT3 on PS3 situation to the Gears of War on Xbox 360:
"What we told Microsoft last year – they wanted a demo for Gears of War and we said 'you've got a choice – you can have the demo this year or the game this year'," Rein said. "We're not a big huge company with the resources to do that, and all the time we're testing that demo we're not testing our full game, which we need to be doing constantly."
However, he said things were "easier" on the PC, and the demo would be something like a beta. There is no confirmed date for this, but obviously, it will occur between now and November. As for us PS3 owners, we'll just have to wait for the final product. In response to Rein's question shown above- we'll take the game, Mark. Forget the demo.
