2K Sports has announced a few new features to be found in NHL 2K8. Starting off, NHL 2K8 will feature ProStick, which will allow the player to precisely handle the puck by using the right analog stick allowing for intuitive control over the entire game. Furthermore, 2K Sports states that their all new face-off system will bring depth and strategy above other hockey title "with every drop of the puck."

“The ProStick and face-off system work hand-in-hand to bring a new level of control to hockey video games,” said Graeme Bayless, President of Kush Games, a 2K Sports studio. “With these two features, we feel NHL 2K8 offers a fresh gameplay experience that will appeal to gamers new to the series as well as our loyal fans.”

The team behind NHL 2K8 has spent considerable amount of time working with MVP and cover athlete Joe Thornton taking in his insight to improve 2K8 over last year's game. Look for NHL 2K8 in September for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, and Xbox 360.
