As soon as you get done downloading a firmware update, details start to emerge about the next one on the horizon. For the most part, these firmware updates have added some much appreciated features, and what's "coming soon" should add yet another cool feature.

According to, Sony Computer Entertainment has confirmed that the next firmware update will include an In-Game XMB Overlay, even though we don't have the exact details just yet. Sony's Eric Lempel said the following in his latest post at the official PlayStation blog-

"I noticed a lot of your comments were directly related to accessing XMB features in-game. We understand this is something you want and we are working on it. For the sake of keeping all the comments below on topic, please understand that we hear this request and are working toward a solution. When I have some more info to share on this, know that I will do so here on this blog."

Obviously, we'd like more information on this matter, but we're happy with this announcement for now. The PS3 continues to grow and expand thanks to these frequent updates, so we'll keep an eye on what transpires over the next few weeks.
