In one of the first major disappointments of this year's E3, two of the most anticipated RPGs for 2008 – developed by the most popular RPG veteran developer in history – won't be at the show. Well, not unless they're planning a surprise unveiling, or something.
Square-Enix has released their E3 lineup, and despite everything we've heard, neither Final Fantasy XIII or The Last Remnant is included. A company spokesperson had even said last week that we can expect a new Remnant trailer at the show, but perhaps that's still on tap…it just won't be an official presentation at one of the kiosks. It appears that all the titles at this year's show will be for portables, except for one Wii game and one for the PS2, Xbox 360, and PC.
As of now, their lineup includes: Dragon Quest IX (DS), Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker (DS), Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors (Wii), Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates (DS), Final Fantasy Tactics: The Lion War (PSP), Final Fantasy II (PSP), Final Fantasy XI: Wings of the Goddess (PS2, Xbox 360, PC), Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings (DS), Front Mission (DS), and Heroes of Mana (DS).
As you can see, no Final Fantasy XIII , The Last Remnant , or Final Fantasy Versus XIII . Oh well, maybe we'll still see a trailer or two for these titles; just no actual presentation.
