One of the cool things about old games is that so many had secrets. You know, funky little Easter Eggs that were basically impossible to find.
That's why we're still stumbling across some of those secrets decades later.
If you're old enough, you probably know all about the myriad of rumors surrounding the classic Mortal Kombat arcade games. Some of those rumors were actually true, as it turns out, including one involving secret menus. Last year, The Cutting Room Floor uncovered the EJB menus (named after series creator Ed Boon) and now, as per Eurogamer , those secrets can be seen in a new video.
Courtesy of YouTuber YourMKArcadeSource , we can actually see those super secret screens. These include things like diagnostic tests, coin bookkeeping and various character endings. And there are secrets in multiple arcade installments; for instance, in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 , the secret menu has the ability to enable hidden characters, offers Fatality previews, and even lets us play a ridiculously tough shooter that reminds us of Galaga .
In order to access these menus, you need to input a special code, which involves hitting the P1 (Player 1) and P2 (Player 2) buttons in a very fast and specific order. Watch the video to see it happen:
