Late last year, we learned that Final Fantasy protagonist Lightning had embarked on a modeling career .

Now, more images have arrived , so we can see Lightning sporting a variety of Louis Vuitton apparel.

She's shown wearing items from "Series 4," which you can see on display – worn by real women – in the video below.

Square Enix says this collaboration "embodies shared values to preserve tradition while seeking out new and revolutionary ideas." Louis Vuitton artistic director Nicolas Ghesquiere said Lightning is "the perfect avatar for a global, heroic woman" and she "heralds a new era of expression." Added Final Fantasy boss Tetsuya Nomura:

"This collaboration is not just a promotion of a game, and it is a great honor that the character herself received an offer from a world famous brand. This has infused new breath into the character, Lightning."

Well now, let's not get carried away. We're done with that character, right Nomura? Quite frankly, she really wasn't one of the better protagonists in the franchise and Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII was just…tragic.

At any rate, you'll be seeing Lightning in magazines starting this month, and she'll also be in more promotional videos. Here's hoping this new career satisfies her and she remains retired.

Well now people can get off the whole Lara Croft and her boobs and DOA and their boobs thing maybe. She was never a global hero though, just a Japanese obsession that was overestimated.

"New life" is pretty funny. You know they want to bring her back and will use any excuse. So long as her game doesn't have the words "Final Fantasy" in it then they can do whatever they want.

And… to promote WHAT GAME? LR was a long time ago in gaming land. I bet they are already cooking something.

I don't understand SE obsession with Lightning!! The world didn't love her they way planned so they keep pushing her on us! I liked XIII but not the sequels. I remember Tetsuya said she must not be forgotten I see he really meant it!

Did anyone around these parts even finish the last two XIII games? Did she FINALLY save the world/planet/sister/love/whateverthehellthepointofthelasttwowas?

Spoilers! (Sorta)

Yup, she saves the world and becomes a kind of Godlike legend along with the original cast whose fame echoes across the ages in the new made world. It was an apotheosis ending, very odd for a franchise historically about ragtaggers that fade back into their respective worlds with varying degrees of happiness.

You couldn't pay me to finish Lightning Returns but I finished XIII-2. Put like 110 hours into it because I actually really loved the gameplay. But the story took a back seat and what was there was so convoluted and ridiculous, I stopped caring about halfway through. I don't even remember the ending; I just remember rolling my eyes a lot.

Thanks for the info, the both of you! I remember you telling me you enjoyed the gameplay, Ben, but I just couldn't invest in it because I didn't care about any of the characters. I agree the storyline was a mess.

Sadly, I think XIII-2 will be the last FF that has an actual ROLE-PLAYING mechanic.

The two main characters, Noel and Serah, were just completely uninteresting but ironically, I loved Lightning in XIII-2. And not because of her character or her story, both of which were basically nonexistent in that game. No, it was because if you wanted to put in the time, you could get her as your recruited "Monster" (the third character in your party) and she would OWN THE WORLD. Totally bad-ass she was. But you had to beat her in the arena first and then spend many hours turning her into a machine.

And I couldn't find or beat her in the Area. If I pay for a bitch I should just get that bitch.

Couldn't find her? She should show up as a fight-able character in the Arena the instant you buy her. Unless you had to do something else that I don't remember.

(Doctor overheard screaming into his phone at that fashion show)

"Code Blue"!

"All doctors & nurses on immediate standby"!

"STAT"!

"Get 2 dozen 1/4 Quarter Pounder w/ cheese I.V.'s ready ASAP"!

"And supersize at least 4 dozen of those Fries w/ extra catsup I.V's. too, we're definitely
going to need them"!

Lightning imo, is actually one of the better designed final fantasy, female characters. The biggest problem for me is that her attitude, character, and charisma are a turn off, AND the fact that her game is better forgotten. Again, to me design is pretty cool, but it ends there. If only she was more likeable personality wise.

I like her design too, but especially her original outfit and gunblade. She has style in her fighting too.
