UPDATE: Disney Interactive has recently contacted PSXE, saying the information on InsideGamer is incorrect, and the official name of the new game will simply be, Turok. They have also provided a tentative release date of Q1 2008. We appreciate the clarification and update.

Original Story:

It really exploded two generations ago on the N64, and since then, the fanbase has continued to swell for Turok . It hasn't always enjoyed the most success, in terms of either critical acclaim or sales, but it remains one of the most recognizable names in the industry. Therefore, everyone is waiting to hear more about the previously announced next-gen Turok , which has laid low so far this year.

But we finally have some movement on that front: according to European website, InsideGamer, the upcoming ancient FPS for the PS3 and Xbox 360 will be named, Turok Rebirth . The announcement evidently comes from Disney Interactive Studios, which currently holds the license for Turok games, but no further information was provided. At this point, that's okay. At least we know what name to type in when searching for new details, right?

Perhaps the name announcement comes now for a reason…maybe we can expect to see Tuork Rebirth at E3. But that's nothing more than speculation and a little hope.
