It's sad but not exactly surprising.
As reported by Polygon , the FBI has been handed information to assist in its investigation of the death threats against Feminist Frequency creator, Anita Sarkeesian.
Sarkeesian had filed a report with the police department regarding threats she'd received online, and the San Francisco police public information officer Albie Espara says that info has been given to the FBI. That's about all we know right now. However, the drama surrounding the feminist spokeswoman has been growing as of late, mostly due to gamers rebelling against Sarkeesian's controversial stance.
However, that's no excuse for death threats and bomb threats. At the Game Developers Choice Awards (GDCA), after it was announced that Sarkeesian was the recipient of the Ambassador Award (which honors an individual for helping video games reach a "better place"), Kotaku reported that unless the hosts rescinded that award, "a bomb would be detonated."
Like a real trooper, she still went up on stage and accepted the award. Personally, I find her to be more of a sensationalist who doesn't know anywhere near enough about the video game industry to be lecturing about it, but please…death threats? People are sick.
