Perhaps the single biggest publisher of video games in the world could really solidify its #1 position if they purchased Take-Two Interactive, which puts out the vaunted Grand Theft Auto , Red Dead and Borderlands franchises. These would be added to current Activision IPs like Call of Duty , World of Warcraft , Skylanders , and the upcoming Destiny .
In a report published on Friday, Benchmark analyst Mike Hickey says such a deal has obvious benefits :
"For Activision, acquiring Take-Two Interactive would be a no-brainer, in our view, circling some of the strongest development talent and owned IP in the world, within a company that has nearly $1 billion in cash and trades at a comparably lower multiple."
Activision and Take-Two also have a shared interest in the movie business, and Hickey adds that there may be some "fatigue" associated with current Activision franchises Call of Duty , Skylanders and World of Warcraft . Well, if you toss 'em something like GTA, there will be no stopping them ever , right?
