It's probably the closest we'll ever get to a Final Fantasy VII remake.
That's why we're posting this, even though the game will only be available for iOS and Android. It's called Final Fantasy VII G-Bike and it's a renewed version of that motorcycle mini-game we had in the classic RPG. Remember the Gold Saucer arcade?
It's a free, mobile "action chaser" inspired by that first famous scene toward the start of the game. During that segment, the player controlled Cloud riding a bike, and he slashes at enemies on other bikes as they attempt to attack the van in which his allies are riding. Obviously, the new game will be deeper and longer, as it'll boast more weapons for Cloud, boss battles, and even a weapon customization system.
It might actually be worth playing and while it's a far cry from Final Fantasy VII HD , it still looks like fun!

I actually wish they wouldn't tease us with stuff like this, gives us hope that we shouldn't have.
I know that feel, bro.
maybe if a whole lot of people buy this it would help persuade S-E to do something more with FFVII. Maybe not the full-scale AAA FFVII HD remake re-imagining that would seem too cool, but instead a lower budget remake that perhaps converts all the graphic assets into 3D models. You know? Something that scales well in higher resolutions. As it is now, those horrendous bitmaps from ye' olden days look like poop no matter how many filters you toss at it.
EDIT: Picture FFIII remake, but a couple notches higher.

The article says it's free, so I dunno what the number of downloads will convince them to do if anything.
*shakes fist at free*
well maybe it's like Moses's brass serpent or something. Like S-E is testing to see if enough people even care just to go and tap 'free download' on an app. takes almost no effort.
i can't be too hard on free to play. I booted up War Thunder on my PS4 yesterday and had a great time.
