Oh man, I totally loved Amplitude .

Developer Harmonix has started a new Kickstarter campaign to produce a sequel to the critically acclaimed 2003 PS2 title, Amplitude . The team needs $775,000; thus far, 3,718 backers have pledged $119,787.

If it works out, this follow-up effort will launch in March 2015 for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. Creative lead Ryan Lesser told GameSpot that they've been wanting to do another Amplitude ever since it debuted:

"It's always been ever-present in our minds and we have a lot of fans who consistently and continually ask us to make more Amplitude. The reason we finally decided to do it again is because the confluence of the urge to make the game and the fact that Kickstarter has turned into a really great platform for bringing fan-favorite games back to life."

They didn't bother taking this idea to publishers; they were always going to try crowdfunding to get this project off the ground. Lesser said "there was a lot of love for this game when it originally came out" so he's hoping they'll get the money they need. If it doesn't pan out, though, that's it. "This is crowdfund or bust," Lesser concluded.

Amplitude was one of those rhythm games that existed before the plastic instrument craze and in all honesty, I preferred playing such games with a controller. Still do. Perhaps the only recent example of such a game is Rock Band Blitz and I had tons of fun with that game, so…

BACKED WITH A VENGEANCE!!!

This is all I've wanted the whole time they've been screwing around with Rock and Dance games.

I was there, day 1, for the first Amplitude. Actually had one of the more popular online remixes; one of the first to be posted. Anyone remember "Ow My Udder"?
