What, is that all?
According to a GamesIndustry.biz report , Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick has received a $7.85 million cash bonus for his performance last year. The company's board compensation committee approved the bonus.
That's a very large increase when compared to the $2.5 million bonus he received in 2012, and let's not forget that Kotick's base salary was increased to $2.1 million last year as well. In 2012, Kotick received an 800 percent raise in potential earnings as a result of a new contract, and new stock options gave him up to $64.9 million on top of the salary and bonus.
However, interestingly enough, GMI Ratings corporate-governance consultant Neil Minow has questioned the CEO's recent $7.85 million bonus. He wants to know how the actual figures were determined, but Activision claims Kotick actually could've received even more, based on the company's 2008 incentive plan.
Well, if you earned it, you earned it.
Never understood these bonuses for the wealthy, everybody else just gets a salary.
Yeah, what's up with that nonsense? He could've received half of that and divided the other half among the employees. I guess Kotick did all the work.
Yes, but not everybody else is the CEO.
He's earned it!
Great now we're going to have even more CoD clones from all the other developers trying to get a cut of the pie.
Wait until next year's bonus after Destiny lands…..
well i wud beg to disagree but that's just me and idk if he earned it well at least for that much personally but yeah thats just me and with COD going down the toliet at least it is to most of us around here i wud beg to differ he's done a good job and deserves 7.5 mil extra on top of the 2.1mil but thats their call
happy gaming =)
I don't see a problem with paying a bonus to the CEO if the company is profitable since a capable executive can add great value. It's the instances where the companies that are struggling or even losing money pay bonuses that I can't wrap my head around.
I would agree if everyone in the company was making money, it's when they pay a 7+ million dollar bonus to this guy while America subsidizes in taxes the janitors and cafeteria workers that makes no sense.
Utterly shameful CEO's IMO.
And to top it off here's a guy who's already stated that he hated video games & never pays them(only watched others play one), a guy who would mark up their video game's prices to $100 if he had his way.
He's never given any respect to the gamers who in all actuality, feed him his super salary & his disgustingly gross bonuses, so will never get any respect from me.
And that's why I made it my lifelong habit to buy any antivision game as "USED" only.
Don't forget his statement about taking the fun out of making games and his opposition to "change" when it comes to new games. A real piece of crap. I don't buy their games because of him.
@BikerSaint
I completely agree with your statement. I went a little further then you with Activision game purchases, though. I have not bought an Activision game new or used since Call of Duty:Modern Warfare and have no intention of purchasing any in the future.
I really wish Activision wasn't publishing Destiny, oh well.
awww did a little sheepie not like what I said about his bum buddy?
*plays them*
(Damned not proofreading it & then that disappearing edit button)
that'll really boost moral, Not!
The money you spent on CoD hard at work.
I understand the whole bonus concept, but I would love to see how this number was calculated.
