It’s That Time Of Year: Post Up Your Awesome Holiday Haul

The wrapping paper is everywhere and you're in a food coma. But when you can move again, feel free to post up your holiday haul!

Didja get anything really special this year? Did you get a lot of little things? Was the theme this year more practical than flashy? Did you receive more game-related stuff than anything else?

I got mostly practical stuff this year, which is good. When you get older, priorities shift; I never thought I'd get old enough where I was happy to see some really comfortable socks. Those were the gift you always hated to see as a kid, 'cuz really, it was a total waste of a present in our young eyes. Now, it's hard to imagine needing much more, just because I've never been much of a materialist, anyway, and as I get older, I become more and more appreciative of what I've already got. It's more about reflection than anything else these days.

There were a few cool notables, however. For instance, I got a really nice set of Williams & Sonoma grilling tools (got into grilling this past summer), a lot of great books to read, a couple beautiful pairs of cuff links, and a specially inscribed cuff link box. My parents, knowing my appreciation of the Objectivism theories of Ayn Rand, had the box inscribed with John Galt's vow- "I swear, by my life and my love of it, that I will never live my life for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to live for mine." Oh, and I had some excellent food that you just can't buy, so I'm happy.

It also helps that I'm spending this particular Christmas with the person I'm convinced I'm supposed to be with, forever and ever. That puts it all over the top, and it's definitely worth mentioning. 🙂

Forgot to say Merry Christmas to my fellow PSXE commenters and forumites.

Nothing also, same as you, cLoudou
(as I'm a loner & no family close by).

But the fact that I woke up to hear my own breathing, that was enough of a gift for me.

Now, it's back to getting more headshots in Sniper Elite V2 Silver Star Edition for me……

The Last of Us and Tearaway picked up at the Boxing day sales. Not too bad. Looking forward to the Naughty Dog epic as it has picked up a lot of GOTY awards. Always lag a bit behind with my gaming.

No gaming stuff. Which is typical got some great stuff though. Some motocross related stuff.

I'll be picking up Need for Speed this week either taking advantage of Amazons $10 off select PS4 titles or purchasing digitally using my $10 voucher that came with my PS4.

I just impulse bought the PS Vita with Tearaway. It was literally a purchase decision that I made within a space of 10 seconds. Those are always the best buys imo. It was quite satisfying actually. lol

Actual presents? Got a copy of Mrs Dalloway by Virginia Woolf. I've been reading some of her other work and man…she is just amazing. The depth of her perception is mind blowing. Also got KH 1.5 for the ps3!

Merry Christmas everyone!

This year was a rather small Christmas because times were tougher than usual. I got a gun Case for my Smith and Wesson AR-15, a lighted screw driver set, and some wonderful Christmas Cards.

Despite the lack of big presents this year, I got something much more important, to be with my family this Christmas holiday. That's worth more than some expensive present under the tree.

I hope everyone has a great holiday.

Lego Marvel Super Heroes, Ocarina of Time 3D, Fire Emblem Awakening, various gift cards and clothing items.

My dad scored Dishonored, GotY, so I may play that at some point.

Got a lot of good non-gaming related stuff.

Game-related, got Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate for PS Vita. And I'll probably use some of the cash I got to payoff my pre-orders on Thief and inFamous: Second Son.

luckily mostly money, a few things need replacing.
i broke my f*cking Z1 on my birthday of all times!
dropped the TV remote literally 5cms onto the screen and it cracked it.
its amazing how apple can create phones that slip out of pockets as your climbing cranes and they dont break, but $ony cant create a phone that lasts a 5cm fall!
and that was with the tempered glass "shatter proof" screen protector they offer too.
yup, so shatter proof a 5cm fall shatters it!
sigh.
that and i need to get a new laptop for studies its too old and slow now.
tossing up on whether i should get a macbook pro 15", or a asus N76 17".
on one hand apples stuff is bulletproof reliability and build quality wise, and ASUS, well, are pretty pathetic in that area.
but then the N76 looks so much better, and i prefer a larger screen, and its a whole grand cheaper!
hmmmmmmm decisions decisions.
do i spend the extra grand and put up with the smaller screen, or do i save the extra grand knowing it will come back and bite me in the a$$, and probably sooner than i think.
really want to get the alienware M17X but its too big and bulky, carrying that thing around is like doing a 2 hour weight session!

o, and the plastic clips holding the interior lights in my car have fallen off so im not looking forward to what exorbitant price im going to be charged for that!
sigh, lesson to the wise NEVER buy a french car!
1 there a pile of sh*t!
2 they keep parts in stock for literally 2 days, so once the cars older instead of going to the dealership and fixing it, they have to import the parts from france driving the price through the f*cking roof!
i remember a few years ago a truck kicked up a rock and cracked my windscreen, since it was on the drivers side its illegal to fill it you have to replace the windscreen.
a friend of mine who had the merc E class cost him 600 because of the rain sensors and light sensors and such.
me, almost twice that, 1100!
the tiny motor to fix the sunroof, another 900!
just shoot me already!
a very wise man once said to me the car is one thing and only one thing, a MASSIVE money pit!
only if i listened to him……….

nope.
a friend of mine is a crane driver he was climbing up to the cab the other day and hes work pants have really shallow pockets so his iphone 5 pokes out, and it fell out, fell god knows how many meters, smack onto the asphalt, and only had a few scratches!
$ony SERIOUSLY needs to stop being so god dam tight a$$ed and start using guerilla glass.
every other phone does!

I didn't get anything game related. Got some new clothes and underwear. Which is nice since I really detest going shopping for clothing.

Some toiletries.( Deodorant, aftershave and some liquid soap.)

My dad gave me a new radio for my car. Pretty thoughtful of him since my old one is broken.( It was damaged when some car thieves tried and failed to force it out.)

Lastly I got a rather obscene supply of chocolate. Some of which was melted to a mushy pulp because of this heatwave we've been having the last few days… Speaking of which. I'd better go get it out of the freezer now. It's probably frozen solid.

Another Ayn Rand fan? I've read all her books. And I mean ALL of them 🙂 Even got a very fancy leather bound version of Atlas Shrugged.

Anyhow this year I got the 250GB PS3 bundle that I picked up from Amazon on their Black Friday (actually Thanksgiving) sale. Came with The Last of Us and Batman Arkham Origins. I also got Ni No Kuni and Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction. I played a bit of Tools and it's a ton of fun!

My wife got me The Avengers: The Complete Emma Peel Megaset (I love my wife!) and a bunch of clothes. The kids got me one of those TV remotes with the huge buttons for elderly people (Yeah they inherited my sense of humor lol). Also got a Blu ray of On Her Majesty's Secret Service and the DVD of Murder On The Orient Express.

Well Toronto area got hit by the deep freeze and many people spent Christmas in the dark and cold. Hopefully many of those found warm shelter with family or friends.

My haul, as little as it was and not matter, means nothing to the those that had no power at this time of the year. My wishes and hopes go to all those here in the Toronto area and the rest of central and eastern CAnada who endured the cold. Also, to those who may have been hit in the Northeastern US.

I wish all them, as well as the community here, the best of Christmas and hope for a happy New Year.

Keep playing (if you got the power) and keep warm!

I got my A Link Between Worlds 3DS XL. Which I new about already. Aside from that I just a bunch of coffee related stuff. A new grinder, maker and beans. Not much else. Was a decent haul. Zelda and coffee? Yes please!!!

i've never been so spoiled in gaming during Christmas.

The Last of Us
Batman Origins
ZOE HD Collection
Ratchet and Clank Collection

…. I couldn't resist the Amazon PC Tomb Raider $5 deal so I snagged that. Yah I was going to hold off for the PS4 edition… but $5 has a way at being persuasive.

I'm most interested in giving TLoU a run first.
