Well, that must suck.
The day before Christmas, and Joe Danger developer Hello Games gets a flood as a holiday present. A big storm moved through the UK and as a result, the studio in Guildford got completely flooded and unfortunately, the team lost a lot. As they said on their Twitter page :
"Oh god. Water moves really quick. Hello Games has been totally flooded," the studio wrote. "Everything in the office has pretty much been lost :("
They added that a life-size cardboard cutout of Joe Danger went floating past them face down and "Poor Joe, he's taking this the worst." Looks like they've at least got a sense of humor about the mess, and they finished by saying they're "leaving now and letting firemen help real people (all the houses around us with kids and xmas)." Yeah, that's probably a good idea.
Joe Danger was one of the absolute best downloadable games of the PS3 generation and although not quite as incredible, Joe Danger 2: The Movie was great fun as well. The team just recently announced their new ambitious project, No Man's Sky , for the PlayStation 4. Here's hoping this event doesn't delay things too long. Good luck, guys!
That game looked really promising. It would be awful if they had to start over.
Danger never appealed to me but No Man's Sky looks really great, sorry to hear they got crapped on. I hope they have insurance.
I hope they backed up all their data. I'd hate to see their new game delayed significantly. Although, starting from scratch could bring better ideas to the game.
Karma's a b***h, Hello Games!
That's what you get for getting in bed with Micro$oft for their money when you made your last game. 😛
At least everyone's okay, an office can be replaced, people can't…
