For those of you who prefer off-road racing to street racing, you're probably familiar with the MX vs. ATV franchise.

Previously owned by the now-defunct THQ, the series ran for quite a while and included multiple installments during the last generation. Nordic Games picked up the IP when THQ's properties went to auction earlier this year and now, the new owners say we can expect a fresh installment.

It's MX vs. ATV Supercross , and it's scheduled to release in the first half of 2014 for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, Mac and Linux. It will also be available digitally on those platforms. Said executive producer Ken George:

"A lot of the original team members have been aching to continue their passion: building the most authentic off-road racing games possible. The hiatus is over, and the team is back to work on MX vs. ATV with great new things to come."

Nordic Games business development director Reinhard Pollice added- "We're confident that the series will continue to grow from strength to strength. Supercross is just the start of our MX vs. ATV plans." Well, I hope things turn out well for them; this franchise wasn't the most polished out there, although it was entertaining. The last one I remember playing was MX vs. ATV Reflex . It was fun but mostly forgettable.

not really a franchise I've followed but I'd like anything to widen the off-road style racing market. I want a PS4 Motorstorm thank you very much

The first Motorstorm was my favorite. Loved the mud effects ūüôā Too bad we won't be seeing that again.

Same. I really liked Apocalypse but the more down to earth dirt, dust, and mud was more to my liking. I hope they relaunch the series on PS4. I think I'll always somewhat resent Drive Club until they do it.

VERY badly done, Evolution. Very badly done indeed!

I never played reflex but technical glitches aside these games were always good. I raced motocross for nearly half of my life to date and it was fairly accurate for not being a simulator. The suspension was always impressive.

Anyways hopefully this works out well, wish it were coming to PS4 though. Id have it day one because its been awhile.

I've always preferred Sony's version of it, and may even consider myself to be an ATV Off-Road Fury fanboy. I even had the PSP iteration, and boy, was it ever fun! Just, kept doing freestyle with Slipknot's Duality playing on permanent repeat. (in-game soundtrack)

I wish Sony brought that franchise back, too. MX vs ATV wasn't anything like the original Sony version. (also had MX vs ATV Untamed on PSP)

Heh. I miss my PSP days.
