Take Down A Giant Turkey In The Next Borderlands 2 DLC

Man, Gearbox has supported the hell out of Borderlands 2 .

Even though the award-winning shooter has been available for over a year, the developer continues to enhance the experience by delivering more downloadable content. The latest, The Horrible Hunger of the Ravenous Wattle Gobbler, is the second Headhunter expansion for the game, and it'll arrive on November 26 for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Steam and Mac platforms. IT'll retail for $2.99.

Players participate in a hunger-themed competition hosted by the infamous Mr. Torgue; the goal is to take down – what else? – a giant turkey named the Wattle Gobbler. We'll also meet Mr. Torgue's grandmother, Grandma Flexington, and I'm honestly wondering if she's standing by to cook the massive turkey after you've taken it down. Plus, the DLC will boast new character heads and skins.

But that's not all: A third Headhunter expansion was announced; the next one is called How Marcus Saved Mercenary Day, and that'll be released in December. Borderlands 2 has shipped over 7.5 million copies to date and is 2K Games' best-selling title of all time.

Dukebox needs to start making something else.

On no no, objection! Gearbox do *not* deserve to be told they should do something else. Their support for Borderlands have been *exceptional* and they should be applauded for this.

Big, good, refreshing DLCs filled to the brim with content and all at a fair price.

In fact, when I look back at this generation the two that really stood out with an exceptional level of support were Burnout Paradise and Borderlands (1+2). That's how to do it!

Yeah while I can see people wanting an entirely fresh offering from Gearbox already, I think it's they're support of Borderlands is awesome. What they seem to be doing is really expanding the Borderlands experience (especially with #2).

I'm still waiting to get the GotY Edition of said title, but I do have the GotY Ed. of the first and from what I've read and seen the second just expands and refines everything from the original. I will appreciate all the offerings available for it once the second installment is added to my collection.

Congrats Gearbox and thank you! 🙂

while its nice to see a game get properly supported, you gotta know when to call it quits.
kinda like criterion and burnout paradise, if they did not waste all that time making DLC we could of had another burnout sequel!
but now the closest will ever get to that is some crappy NFS re branding.
sigh.

Well the fact that we only received one true Burnout game this generation can be viewed as disappointing (haven't even tried the more arcade-like top down title on PSN), but at least I think many who frequent here thought of it as a very well done kick-ass Burnout installment with quite a bit of content, right?

As far as my outlook on Borderlands I really that I have the GotY Ed. (with DLC on disc) and am anticipating adding the 2nd one which seems to have expanded considerably in most aspects of the game itself, especially with the additions of the prior and forthcoming DLC.

I personally am satisfied with the efforts and support of the developers concerning the titles I've mentioned. 🙂

Just a curiosity question here, I see there is a Game of the Year Edition of Borderlands 2 already… so does that not include all the DLC then?

One wouldn't think so.

It does not. It does include a lot, however. See here:

Those 4 campaign add one are pretty meaty, too. The last being the best, IMO. Well worth the asking price.

I'm all over this new headhunter pack! Love Thanksgiving!!!

I think it includes the DLC up to the point where the started printing discs, but I don't know if any of the newest DLC is on disc, such as the Headhunter missions? According to EB/Gamestop it doesn't seem they are. 🙁

…. but as long as the other stuff save for a few not highly priced but good bits of DLC are omitted because they came out after the disc was pressed I guess that's not too bad. It would be nice if a voucher was included for it though or perhaps there will be a discounted bundle for the stuff that remains at a discounted price for the people who've bought the previous DLC or the GotY Ed. 🙂

wish gearbox would let you carry as many weapons as you want, its frustrating finding a really cool weapon and having to leave it on the ground as you dont want to loose any of the weapons you already have.
miss the good old days of health packs, flack jackets, and infinite inventories!
oh and color coded keycards, cant forget the color coded keycards.

Yeah, while I'm glad some games have the luxury of being able to carry many or even all available arsenal (especially for a 90's feel) I'm glad that not all games of a certain genre necessarily have share all the same elements, cause come on, while it's nice in a way, isn't some variety also nice in a way. I find it can also be a little frustrating having to make certain choices like weapon management, especially when coming across something that is just as good or even better but really feeling some attachment to something already in your backpack. On the flip-side though, it does have the player be more mindful about what to keep and what to leave behind, in of itself getting the player to make critical decisions and could spice things up in that regard. I don't know if this is making much sense to anyone right now, just a current thought I had on this. 🙂
