Noted actor Alec Baldwin was offered a role in Grand Theft Auto 2 but didn't take it for "reputation" purposes.
Well, okay. During a recent IndieWire interview , Baldwin said developer Rockstar offered him an "incomprehensible amount of money," but he refused to play a "cop killer:"
"[The makers of] Grand Theft Auto came to me to do a voice of some mobster, many years ago, for Grand Theft Auto 2. And they offered this incomprehensible amount of money for one day's work. And they offered me a pile of money, this ridiculous amount of money to just come in a record this voice for one or two days.
And I turned them down because [the character] was a cop killer. And I didn't want to get near that [because] of my reputation; I have enough problems with the press as it is. I said no."
We don't know which character he was going to play and honestly, I don't recall any of the characters in that game. Baldwin has done plenty of voiceover work in the past but apparently, this is something he really didn't want to do. For the record, other accomplished Hollywood talent has lent their voices to GTA, including Ray Liotta, Samuel L. Jackson and Michael Madsen. I do have one question, though-
GTA2 came out when gaming still hadn't really gone mainstream and budgets certainly what they are today. I wonder if the amount of money Baldwin was offered was actually "incomprehensible."
Now he is like Fuk, what was I thinking.
GTA wasn't even a name back then. Oh well, for a madman with a bad reputation it's a strange thing to be worried about.
I was going to say world, What reputation?
lol yup
well probbably relative to the time it was you have to think abou the money of the time it probably was alot for not much.
happy gaming =)
So, the man who left a voice message calling his daughter an "ungrateful b**tch" was concerned GTA would tarnish his image? The irony is so thick that you could cut it with a knife!
"You know what sucks about being a Baldwin?" "What?" "Nothing!" "Yeah! ahahahahha" BOOM!
Baldwin? Really? His reputation is already ruined. He has been in plenty of controversies already.
