We're talkin' big money.
After raking in $800 million in just 24 hours, it was probably inevitable that Grand Theft Auto V would soon break the $1 billion mark. And publisher Take-Two Interactive has indeed announced that the widely revered title has passed $1 billion in overall worldwide sales. In only a few days.
If you're wondering how this compares to the biggest name in gaming today, Call of Duty: Black Ops II took 15 days to break the $1 billion mark. Said Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick:
"Grand Theft Auto is a cultural phenomenon and Rockstar Games continues to redefine what can be achieved in interactive entertainment. We are incredibly proud of the extraordinary critical and commercial response to Grand Theft Auto V."
There's also a chance that GTAV could come to next-gen consoles in 2014, which would increase the sales potential yet again. Thus far, the game has raked in over 20 perfect scores from various sources and gamers everywhere are knee-deep in what the vast city of Los Santos has to offer. For more, check out our epic review .

Staggering. Good for them, much props on making a successful game everyone loves that isn't Cod.
With this, I believe the streak of CoD breaking records has come to an end.
Besides, GTA is much more deserved to break record.
Rockstar actually push the limit, unlike Activision.
^This.
That's true.
However it is also true that as COD has released year on year whilst still breaking records year on year says something.
Not sure if its a good thing…but it definitely says something!
If only I could get my copy to work..smdh..I
You got a bum copy?
I've got freezing issues galore..sometimes can't even get past loading story..just now got it to load and I've played a good 2 hrs after you switch to Franklin. Reminds me of gta4 when it released.
try deleting your game install and installing it again. sometimes you get a bad install. mine has been having weird freezing issues also. i have been thinking about reinstalling it myself.
sometimes when i am playing it will just freeze for a second. then resume like nothing happened.
Is this the PSN version, did you download the game or buy a physical copy?
@beamboom this is my second physical copy. If I experience issues today I might just get the digital version..
@frylock that was the first thing I did when i got of work last night. That didn't fix the issue. Even deleted some things to give my hdd more room and less stress but that didn't work either. Just glad I at least got to play last night..we'll see what today brings
That sucks, if there's a day 1 update I would try deleting that data too. No matter how many times I reinstalled Skyrim it still froze on me, once I deleted the digital updates and let them reinstall everything was fixed.
Which version of the PS3 do you have?
That suck ur copy doesn't work try returning it 4 another copy
Good to hear.
hmmmmm, so maybe this will be the best selling game of the year?
bout f*cking time someone knocked cod off its throne!
now maybe will actually see some innovation and quality from the franchise!
I do hope this happens.
£1 billion in sales!!! Think that works out at about 17 million copies, in 4 days… wow
i'm glad sometime finally stuck it to activision and COD some more deserving to take the throne COD sat in it long enough. my opinion.
happy gaming =)
They got my $48….Thanks Toys R Us for the 20% off coupon!!
