Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster Receives Japanese Date

So, what does this mean for North America and Europe?

If recent reports from Japanese publication VJump are accurate (as cited by Nova Crystallis ), the highly anticipated Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster will hit Japan on December 19.

The HD remakes will be released separately for the PlayStation Vita and cost 4,480 yen each, while the PS3 iteration includes both titles and will cost a more reasonable 7,980 yen.

Featuring improved character models, upgraded textures and freshly rearranged music, this could end up being one of the most impressive HD overhauls ever. However, this doesn't tell us when US and Euro gamers will get a shot at the collection; a December 19 Japanese date might imply we won't see it until next year. However, we can't say for certain, and we might learn more when Sony takes the stage at the Tokyo Game Show.

Anybody out there more amped for this than for Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII ? …oh, just about everyone? Color me surprised.

Aw man… I really wanted it to come sooner… I'm dying of classic turn based JRPG starvation here….

In the words of ill conceived changes made to classical movies….

Day 1 for this, day maybe for FFXIII-3.

I was hoping we would get it this year honestly, otherwise they will feel the need to push it out past February in order to not interfere with Lightning's bizarre adventures.

I've wanted to replay FFX for over a year now and the wait is bugging me.

I got mine at Best Buy as well. For those who missed out as sawao stated it is on sale on PSN this week, however be prepared because the game is 21 GB so you will need 42 GB of free space to download and install.

I'm really excited for this, for some reason I got stuck on FFX when I played it all those years ago. It'll be good to finally beat it.

And you know? I'm actually getting hyped for lightning returns. I realized how much I actually liked XIII-2 and am willing to give this a chance… When its around 20 bucks. That's what I did with the first 2 and I feel I got my moneys worth.

Guess I have to buy this collection once it comes out, considering my Fatty is now in storage…

Also, I'd love to see FFXIII-3 come out and surprise you, Ben. Even if it is more along the lines of action than RPG, it's not impossible. I'd just like to see it so that all of the negativity surrounding it was unfounded 😉

I have not seen any indication yet that that will be the case. The last two were decent enough games but not good FFs, I'm starting to think LR will probably not even be that good of a game separate from the FF label. Stuff like the time limit, inability to do everything in 1 play, no party, and what will almost certainly be a poor interpretation of western platforming elements are going to hurt it all over the place.

This collection is a D1 buy for me. I couldn't wait any more – I pulled out FFX and started playing it again last week. I hope they publish a release date soon, and that it's not late into 2014!

I never played FFX (I know, I know!), so I've been anxiously awaiting this HD remake since I heard about it. However, I won't have time to play it until well after December, so I don't really mind waiting longer. Hell, if SE takes too long with it, I may end up waiting until next year to get the collection.

That's why it's important, especially in North America, SE, to have games ready for the xmas season.

I am super excited for this, FFX/FFX-2 were both great games. Wish I had the time to put over 100+ hours into both again but only time will tell if that will happen again. I was hoping to get them this year because a release next year would seem to make more sense if it were also going to come to the PS4 and not just the PS3. Especially with the PS4 not boy being backwards compatible. Oh well, here's hoping my twice fixed fat PS3 will live long enought to play them both again in HD.

I'm really excited about this release BUT I don't want x-2. Wish they wouldn't package together but I'll still buy it just to play x but Lightening Returns won't ever be purchased unless it hits the ps4 and gets to be really cheap.
