Are you ready and willing to test out one of the most anticipated shooters of 2013?

Electronic Arts has announced an open beta for Battlefield 4 . The play test will be available for all PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC users, and it'll begin on October 1. Bullets will fly!

This is a public beta; it isn't the exclusive version some gamers obtained by either purchasing Battlefield 3 Premium, buying Medal of Honor: Warfighter , or pre-ordering the BF4 Digital Deluxe Version. We still don't know when that "exclusive" beta will go into effect. We're also not sure exactly which maps you'll be able to sample when you test Battlefield 4 , but is that really critical? Isn't it enough that you get to play a portion of this super hot game a few weeks early? Nothin' to complain about there.

BF4 is slated to hit current-generation consoles and the PC on October 29. It will also be a launch title for the next-gen systems; November 15 for the PS4 and November 22 for the Xbox One.

I don't play every FPS that comes out, so I tend to enjoy it as much as I would any other game.

@infamousgodV2_0 – Saying that they need to die just because you don't like them…pretty lame guy.

I remember the open beta for battlefield 3, thought it was alright but BFBC2 imo still remains better than 3 and I have a feeling 4 won't be that much different. Yah I'm interested in trying it out.

Don't bother. I have it on the PC and the community is dying. Still has a decent amount of people playing it but not that much. Also most servers are 24/7 of one map which is lame.

I got the regular version of BF3 on PC (for free) after EA mucked up the SimCity launch. Unfortunately, my PC's graphics card is just a basic one, so games aren't great with it. I know some of the maps are "bigger" mean there are more MCom stations (and more MP players), wouldn't have minded trying those maps out.

Well if you currently like playing it on console, I suggest you don't try it out on PC because, you just won't be able to play it on console again. Its like they are two different games.

True, no comparison between PC and console versions, assuming you have at least a decent PC. I had it for PS3 first, as I hadn't upgraded my PC for a few years. After upgrading, I got the PC version, and you really can't go back to the console version. Not to mention the mouse/keyboard being superior to a controller for me in an FPS game.

@xenris – I don't have an issue finding good servers.

Looking forward to this a lot more than COD Ghosts.

I don't know if I want to spoil the wait by playing the beta though….

Playing BF3 to death ever since I got it on PS+. See guys, THIS is why PS+ is awesome, I have been introduced to an awesome FPS multiplayer game, that I probably wouldn't have bought if I didn't get it for free from PS+. Now thanks to that, I will pay full price for BF4.
