It could end up being the last massive AAA exclusive for the PlayStation 3.

It has been confirmed during Sony's Gamescom press conference that Gran Turismo 6 will launch worldwide on December 6, 2013.

We're also reminded of the "Gran Turismo" movie that is currently in development, and let's not forget that 2012 marked the 15th anniversary of the esteemed franchise. I still have no idea how a feature film based on this franchise will work, but here's hoping it doesn't leave a black mark on Kazunori Yamauchi's iconic title. So yeah, racing fans are gonna have to keep their PS3s at least through December, just so they can play the guaranteed-to-be-amazing GT6.

But don't forget that a PS4 version may arrive some time next year…

I'm more interested how they will actually make a movie on this. I'm not saying films on racing cannot be done the upcoming 'Rush' by Ron Howard looks fantastic but that has a story to tell. I remember Ridge Racer Type 4 even had partly a story with the conversations with the managers… but never with GT.

Alright, I just don't know if I can wait that long lol. Seeing one of the classic track at night just excites me and gives me hope on what other tracks will enable time change.

I can't wait to see some of those concept cars too. The site indicates that there are more partnerships a coming as well. It's amazing that PD allows these companies help put their crazy "vision" and ideas to life (at least in game) using GT's engine (suspension, aeros, tire phyiscs, etc). If you think about it, all those crazy concept cars you see in auto shows, companies can test and drive them on the game if they choose too, which is big considering that pretty much most of them don't make it into production. I hope this is a partnership that will continue on as long as GT lives.

Also, please don't hold your breath for a GT6 PS4 version if it's going to hold you up from buying the only announced version come December 6th of 2013. As said before, by the time GT is ready for PS4, it will most likely be GT7 or a different title, but positively not GT6.

Likely the same story for me as well.

Kind of sad to be closing the chapter on the PS3, but at least we can do it in 60fps, 1080p high-style. 🙂
