Man, I used to love some of the old-school arcade games based on "The Simpsons."
Did you know that there's a possibility that we could get another title? And that it would actually be a role-playing game?
That's what original series writer and 8-time Emmy Award winner Al Jean told GoldDerby Google Hangout , anyway. He said they've "talked about it" but "it's a really complicated thing to do. One of the biggest issues the writers would face is the branching storyline mechanic.
When asked if there are any other "Simpsons" game in development beyond The Simpsons: Tapped Out for iOS and Android, Jean wouldn't confirm anything specific, but he thinks there will be future projects. As for the brand in question:
"We've been at it so long. I mean, the first game was an arcade game. So there's been unbelievable history to the video games that have come off the show. And we're a ride at [Universal Studios], which is amazing. So I think that kind of thing is not going to stop. In fact, it will just increase."
If you're wondering, EA has the license to create games based on the long-running television franchise. I remember the last game , which wasn't too bad, but it was hardly anything spectacular. I'd love to see an RPG, though!
