Don’t Worry, Tekken X Street Fighter Is Still On The Way

Yes, it's still coming.

Fighting fans have been wondering what happened to Tekken X Street Fighter , as we haven't heard much about the project in quite some time. Thankfully, in speaking to Siliconera , Tekken series producer Katsuhiro Harada said the game is still in development.

He did add that there are "several reasons" why we haven't been getting much in the way of recent updates:

"One of the reasons is, Street Fighter X Tekken was released. That still had updates until recently. One interesting thing we’ve seen with that title when it came out was that it’s not quite what we expected.

It was not just Tekken fans and Street Fighter fans merging, there seems to be a whole new community growing around that title that wasn’t playing either of the titles up until that point. That was very unexpected, but quite cool."

So, in an effort to support that new community, Harada says Namco Bandai is still waiting for just the right time to release Tekken X Street Fighter . Well, just gives you more time to play the very solid Street Fighter X Tekken , which released last year to widespread acclaim.

I'd rather Tekken 7 to be honest.

You and me both. Though with the way Tekken has been evolving by Tekken Seven the fighters will probably be levitating like Dragon Ball Z….

LOL, we'll see what happens. I was actually a bit disappoitned with Tekken 6, it wasn't bad but coming off 5 I just didn't think it lived up well to that game. Tekken Tag 2 is awesome though and now that I'm back into the series I want to see a nice bounceback for Namco with 7. I think they can deliver.

still seems nuts to me how they're going to make SF characters feel like SF characters without all of the jumping and fireball spamming. Not to mention SF characters should now include massive move lists.
Anyway, I am personally more interested in this than I was for SF X Tekken. Here's hoping it's still targeted for PS3.

You're like a fighting game ownership champion Temjin. Remember Rival Schools and Fighting Vipers? They need to bring those back.

Temjin, keep in mind that Street Fighter games have had many different feels over the years . SSFII Turbo, SF Alpha 3, SF Third Strike, Marvel vs Campcom and SF EX.

I'm sure they'll do their research, consult w/ Capcom and make something that isn't wildly unfamiliar .

….and every single one of those Shadow had lots of jumping and fireballs. That's why it seems nuts to me 😉

I too wonder how they are going to pull this off. Is it going to play like a tekken only with a bigger jump function? Or are they going to ground the SF characters and make them play like tekken characters.

Bought SFxT on Vita on release date but I got bored after 2 weeks. I will never buy 2D fighter again. Really hoping for TTT2 on Vita.

A little off topic but since Namco is indirectly in topic, I figured i'd mention this. Don't quote me but I believe Tales of Xillia releases today in the US.

I still think Harada should wash his hands with TvSF and concentrate on Tekken 7.

There is NO benefit to Namco for making TvSF. None. SF's core concepts do not work in 3D and neither do their characters. Tekken characters fitting into SF was always going to be much easier than the reverse. Harada's job is much MUCH harder than Ono's, and the payoff will either be the same or worse. They might as well just put that effort into the next Tekken.

If they can pull this off, it will be the 1st "Full Retail" Fighting game I will buy since, Marvel vs Capcom 2 on PS2(Discounting all the DragonBall series games haha)
