Usually, one weighs a great many factors when deciding to purchase a new game console.
But is there one game that, if it released only for a particular platform, would make you buy that platform instantly? With no questions asked and nothing more to consider?
I suppose I might say a true sequel to my favorite game of all time, Final Fantasy Tactics 2 . But that would probably come to the Vita and I've already got that. So I guess my answer would probably be Lost Odyssey 2 . If they ever made a sequel to that RPG, which I still say is the last great traditional RPG, I'd buy whatever it was on. The first was exclusive to the Xbox 360; if the sequel was exclusive to the Xbox One, I'd buy it.
Of course, there are other alternatives. I miss Suikoden so much, and I also want to see the return of Jet Moto . But Lost Odyssey is just one of those games that sticks with you, especially when all other RPGs are going in a direction you don't like. I remember the stellar writing of the dream sequences, which were obviously done by a professional. I remember the fantastic turn-based combat, which was all sorts of dynamic and diverse. I remember the excellent setting and cool characters. There was just so much more that could've been done; if a developer ever did it and did it right , I'd buy it immediately.
What about you?
I think it would be Alan Wake 2. I bought the 360 for the first one.
A remake of the original Tecmo's Deception… that would be awesome
If there's one game I go back to playing on the 360, it's the one game I bought it for: Alan Wake. When the game was originally supposed to be a DX10 showcase, I bought a DX10 card right away. Then Windows was dropped, so I bought a 360 a month before Alan Wake launched. Bought the Collector's Edition. I've never regretted it.
The obvious answer is Final Fantasy VII remake, but that would sort of depend on it not being bent into a modern SE action game.
Sooo setting aside the obvious, Id have to get an Xbone to play a new Fallout game if it went exclusive.
Lol, World you know better than to mention an FFVII remake… Knowing that it does not exist makes the world a sad place.
Not if you have the original to play… Honestly, just replay it and you're bound to still enjoy and appreciate it for what it is worth. I replayed IX recently and still regard it one my favourite games ever made.
If anything I want a 3DS remake of Final Fantasy V. They recently made the iOS version but the character models just look to bubbly. I would have been content with a 2D PSP release in the same look of 1,2 & 4. But if they remade V & VI for the 3DS I would certainly buy the console.
While you have a point Ultima, I'm not referring to myself. I'm merely stating something in reference to a point I brought up in a previous but similar topic a long time ago about the audience being limited by the generation gap. Sure you and I can play any FF we own and appreciate it's value, but I've seen a lot of the gamers bred in this and the last generation. As far as I can tell, for the most part they cannot. The World being sad is a play on words in part that it both references World's screen name, and the fact that many older generation games are being skipped over due to that generation gap. Considering the example from modern FFs, what reason does anyone have to experience the older ones? Because word of mouth from guys like me isn't enough. I'm simply complaining about an untapped, and semi-unwilling audience that will more than likely never experience the best games the FF series had to offer.
I think I've probably replayed it too many times, it has become like a favorite movie that I watched too many times, there's no point in going through it again as is.
I know how that is… I could tell you the entire story from front to back, including all the stuff from the spin-offs at this point.
yah, I'd rather have a fresh FF done right over a remake. FFVII was great and all but I think a lot of it's novelty is tied to it's era and accompanying tech.
Zone of the Enders 3. Me love me some Kojima mech action.
While I didn't think the first ZOE was that great, I regret not having played more of the sequel. I may pick up the HD collection to play it. There's nothing like those games anymore. I also think ZOE2 was one of the few PS2 games that the Xbox would've struggled to match due to the heavy use of post-effects processed by the PS2's vpu's.
I totally agree about the first but the second is still one of my favorite games of all time.
Honestly, Borderlands 3. Ive put so much time in to Borderlands and especially Borderlands 2 that a third for me is like a necessity.
Otherwise if any Uncharted were suddenly on anything other than. Playstatiom that would get me to purchase anything to play it.
You stole my answer! Lol!
BL3 would be the clincher – and Uncharted 4. And maybe the next Rocksteady Batman game………
Yea I love Borderlands. So amazing. Uncharted my favorite franchise ever, so both are no brainers for me.
Also Id have to say GoW too.
The Last Of Us 2. The ending just makes me want for more. Just imagining the sequel possibilities, it will have so much drama. Hell, even if there's a miraculous circumstance that it will only be released on wii just Wii. I'm still gonna buy it no question ask. Hehe.
Star wars battlefront
Killzone. I know FPSs are a dime a dozen, but it's one of my favorite franchises of all time.. that so happens to be a shooter lol
I go where it goes.

No game could make me buy a different console. Playstation has me covered on everything I want to play. If not then just go to a friend's house and play/rent the game.
Red Dead Redemption 2.
I'm sorry. But I'd say goodbye PS in a heartbeat if RDR went Xbox One exclusive.
I remember weighing the PS3 to 360. I just came off of a gen where I really loved many of Xbox's favored franchises: Ninja Gaiden, DOA, Splinter Cell and Halo. But when I weighed everything in the balance I knew games like Gran Turismo, MGS, Tekken, Final Fantasy, Virtua Fighter among other japansese produced games would be on PS3, including also Splinter Cell as it was multi plat. I remember also reading the news that Ninja Gaiden would be remastered again for PS3. This was pivotal. While Itagaki would never admit to it, I suspected the whole franchise was right behind NGS, including the possibility of DOA 😉
Ironically, FF, Tekken, and Virtua Fighter all came over Xbox side while all of my hopefuls did appear on PS3 better than ever.
Anyhow, I think at this point it'd be really hard for me to be sold on just one game. Granted, I haven't been in a position where there were no solid alternatives to a favored genre.
But for me, I'm really trying to see what Xbox One can offer me outside of Halo. Between my PCs, Playstations, and Nintendos the XboxOne is a real hard sell, even if it got like MGS6 exclusive or something (won't happen =p )

Assassin's Creed.
Shenmue 3
ooooh, that'd be hard to pass on.
I would be more than content with a Shenmue III made in the same engine as the last game, but released on PSN/Live Marketplace. I just want the story to be concluded.
The next Naughty Dog game. I'll be getting the PS4 bundle for it.
A real Metroid game. Not that Metroid Prime FPS crap. A true Metroid game that I haven't seen since Gameboy Advance.
Chrono Trigger sequel.
Suikoden or Star Ocean. I nearly bought a 360 for The Last Hope until I found out about the PS3 version.
A next-gen remastering of Legend of the Dragoon, hopefully with a sequel on the same disc…
Forza Horizon 2
Well so far one of mine is Kingdom Hearts I already owned a psp when birth by sleep came out but I bought a 3DS for Kingdom Hearts 3DS and anything from Rockstar and Kojima. I did buy a 360 for Lost Odyssey which was well worth it!! For me its always been about the games and not the system.
A Fuli Culi(FLCL) game done in the animated art style that Ni No Kuni was done in.
Kingdom Hearts. Seriously, I bought three other systems just to play the spin-offs! With the third coming out on the PS4, you know I'm going to buy both when they come out!
It'll probably be on the Xbox too with S-E track record recently. Final Fantasy XV has already be confirmed so why not.
FF 7 remake. Period.
viva pinata
In my opinion no one single game justifies the purchase of an entire machine. But the closest would probably be the start of the next Mass Effect trilogy (I'm just assuming it will be a trilogy now).
If Microsoft grab that one as an exclusive for this generation as well, I will factually physically break down and cry.
I'd still not get me a Xbone, though.
why final fantasy XIII-4 lightning kills the genre of course
Advent Rising 2. Knights of the Old Republic 3. Half-Life 3. TES VI.
Omg, KOTOR3…! Oh yes. That could be tough to pass on.

Well I bought a Wii for Xenoblade Chronicles, which I absolutely do not regret being one of the best gamign experiences I have ever had. It just delivers everything a JRPG fan has been longing for. So if this 'X' game is a Xenoblade 2 and not just an MMO, I may have to end up buying a Wii-U just to play it. It is that good!
As much as I love Lost Odyssey, I have yet to buy a 360 for it. But if it was released on the PS3 I would buy it in a heartbeat. Despite being a bit cheesy it was a great JRPG experience, something I don't think the PS3 has rivaled this with gen.
I suppose the real question here is, what would the Xbox Inconsistency have to gain as an exclusive to win me over. Well Final Fantasy and Metal Gear are the obvious ones – but I hope that never happens… I don't really know in all honesty… Shenmue III 😛
Legacy of Kain sequel. Why they haven't made one in a decade is still a mystery to me.
Crap. That shoulda made my list as well.
They pretty much ended the series with Defiance… That, and I heard the next game Nosgoth was being worked on, but it would be more of a multiplayer Tie-in…
Except, Defiance didn't end it, it ended with a cliffhanger. Also there are lots of stuff that are still unexplained/unexplored.
um probs only crash, jak or rachet for me are probs only games like that. i mean i saw tearaway and that sold me on the vita. but yea probs just those 3 games atm wud be enough to get me to by a platform just for that game.
happy gaming =)
anything remedy works on, they really have a creative unique approach to storytelling and it really is addictive!
O, and ricochet 2.
so, gabe, must we wait for your next birthday to hear about it again?

Heavy Rain 2 – The Madison Naked Twister Edition. I'd buy that one on any platform!
Monster Hunter on PS4 would certainly go a long way…
