Assassin's Creed is known for being historically intriguing, as we've visited multiple eras and cities throughout the franchise.

From the Middle Ages to Italy during the Renaissance to the American Revolutionary War, we've indulged in the meticulously created worlds from our past. But franchise lead writer Darby McDevitt said during a Comic-Con panel that a modern-day installment is possible .

He said "there's always a chance" but he did add that one of the cornerstones of the series was the "historical tourism," and he's absolutely right about that. The other possibility is feudal Japan, as he said:

"I think the Shogunate is in a cool era, but it's up to one person, and whatever we do, we'll make it cool."

What do you think about a modern-day or feudal Japan setting? Personally, I'm not a big fan of either idea. I'd like to see a true Medieval setting; you know, wander around during the days of King Arthur and the legendary Knights of the Round Table. That was supposedly an important time for the Templar order, too, so it would fit in nicely with the ongoing Assassin's Creed saga. Where would you like to visit in the next AC?

I still think that after the pirates they will capitalize on the success of Red Dead Redemption and do a western.

That would be cool as I am a big fan of Westerns. I saw that a new comic was in the making, set in 18th century India at the time of the British rule. It would be fun to ride elephants around.

End this series already. They should have had a beginning and end already. Instead of adding extra "stories".

I'm curious to see how Shoa Jun's story plays out. Imperial China would be pretty cool.

I'm still an advocate for Russia. :p

If they do go "modern", I'd rather they limit it and maybe do something with the "real" way Hitler dies.

I'm with Underdog on this one. I went to Russia this summer and the tour guides often explained how this or that noble "mysteriously died" or that certain things happened without any traceable instigator. In addition to that, the architecture in the cities would be amazing for scaling up in-game. Honestly, I couldn't think of a better place for a sequel, my interest kinda stalled out mid-game last time.

I agree, as well. A game related to 'The Fall' comic book with Nikolai would be great to play through.

I agree, the main part of the intrigue of this series is having the chance to be visitor in history. I love it…I can't time travel, so this is the next best thing. I get totally lost just exploring most of the time.
