As the last one was for PSP, would they make the next iteration for the Vita…?

According to DualShockers , Sega will hold an event related to the browser/smartphone card battle game, Valkyria Chronicles Duel in Tokyo on July 21.

That may not be all that interesting for most, but there's more:

As part of the announcement, Sega says "something" related to the acclaimed franchise is going to be revealed during the live broadcast on Nico Nico. Granted, they could just be talking about more mobile stuff (which would be disappointing), but there's also the possibility that they will finally announce Valkyria Chronicles 3 . The original was a cult classic on the PS3 and remains one of the most revered titles of the generation. The sequel was exclusive to the PSP – much to the chagrin of many – and we've been hoping to see a third entry.

We know all the strategy aficionados want this series to return. Right?

Gimme Gimme Gimme!

I would love another full fledged console VC, but I'll gladly take a Vita release too.

I've been pining for a New Valkyria Chronicles for ages. Still feeling a little burned that VC3 never made it outside Japan…

I should really play the first one, I never got past the second encounter because I couldn't commit to lengthy scenarios but I did love it. Anybody remember if there's an easy difficulty?

Great game, but I was so excited when they added Skies of Arcadia characters that I just wish Sega would do another SoA instead.

Yes World, you really really should play the first one. It's still one of my favourite games of this generation.

I don't think the story has a difficulty setting, it just is what it is. You can choose the difficulty of skirmishes though.

There are some tough missions, but nothing that's a showstopper. If your first strategy didn't work, take what you learned and try a different approach.

I kept it for the collection so I can always go back to it, I'm just rarely have the patience for strategy games. The fact that it's anime helps a lot though.

It gives you the option of difficulty when you start the game, IIRC. Only Easy or Normal though. Hard is unlocked later.

I loved the first one. Haven't played the second though because I wasn't happy about it being downgraded to psp. I'll play it eventually, but I'd rather have VC3 on ps4.

What Sega should announce:

– "Valkyria Chronicles III localized for US/EU PSP"
– "Valkyria Chronicles III remastered for PSVita"
– "Valkyira Chronicles II & III Collection remastered for PS3 & PSVita"
– "Valkyira Chronicles IV announced for PS3 or PS4"

At least ONE of those would make fans ecstatic.

However, what Sega will MOST LIKELY announce:

"Valkyira Chronicles spin-off for Facebook/Google Chrome"
"Valkyira Chronicles spin-off for iPad/iPhone/Android"
"Valkyira Chronicles comic series"
"Valkyira Chronicles I, II, & III ports to iPhone/Android"

Sad but true.

Prove me wrong, Sega.

I finally bought the 'Hard EX Mode' for the original not too long ago, playing thru the whole game again. I realized that not a year has gone by where I didn't complete 'Valkyria Chronicles.' It would just be such a disappointment if a proper sequel to the original was never released to PS3 or PS4.

Hey, I happen to be playing through Valkyria 1 again right now. Such a superb game. While it would be nice if they'd announce a U.S. version of Valkyria 3 (for Vita, one hopes), my fondest dream would be to see it return to consoles.

I'm guessing that this is related to Project 575? Don't know, but want to.

I've been more bummed out that, while Sega messed around with one of the best strategy games I've played on PS3, nobody else has stepped in and made their own clone of a formula that clearly worked so well for Valkyria 1. If Sega are going to muck me around with sequals on 7 different platforms ( like they did to me with The Shining Force series back in the days of the Genesis, Sega CD, Game Gear and Saturn) then I'd much rather another dev stole all VC's ideas and made a game with a more streamlined set of sequals that I've been hanging out for since VC1 blew me away. Instead I get 50 different FPS's clones shoved in my face. Sad. For me this is Hogs Of War (PS1 game with a very similar battle system) all over again.

I would love to own a PS3 or PS4 Valkyria Chronicles title. I played the first two on PS3 and PSP respectively and loved them.
