Saints Row IV is slated to launch on August 20 in North America. But what does the future look like for the over-the-top open-world franchise?
Well, it'll be interesting to see how the fans receive this news, because Saints Row V – if there is one – could go in a very different direction. Series director Scott Phillips told Gamereactor that the upcoming title marks the conclusion of the current saga:
"We're definitely considering Saints Row IV sort of the end of that saga of this character and the Saints as they are. So if there's any more future Saints Rows–which you know we always hope there will be, we hope there's fans for future games like that–they will probably continue in a different direction."
Saints Row has been developed by Volition, and the games were published by now-defunct publisher THQ. Deep Silver parent company Koch Media bought the Saints Row IP for $22.3 million during a January auction. But the question is, do you want the series to change after the fourth installment? Or would you rather it stick to what it does best?
