Thief is one of our most anticipated next-gen games.

But maybe you really want to play it, and you're not planning to purchase a next-gen system for a while. Well, good news:

Eidos Montreal has confirmed that the upcoming reboot will also be available for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Evidently, all versions will release at the same time next year. We don't yet have an exact date but I think I speak for all stealth aficionados when I say, "the sooner the better." There was no mention of a Wii U version, for the record. As for differences between the versions, producer Stephane Roy said it's "really, really important" to insure that the core gameplay remains intact across all platforms. Of course, you can expect a significant graphical upgrade for the PS4 and Xbox One iterations.

Thief has always been bad-ass. Can't wait.

Were they not the ones to say they wouldn't do this since it would hold them back or am I confusing them with someone else.

I've been waiting for a new 'Thief' long enough that I would have gone with the PlayStation 4 version even if it meant buying it before the console itself. But with the $400 price point, looks like I'll get to play this right away.

sigh.
is there any games besides exclusives that are next gen only?
gotta love it how developers have been bitching till their faces are blue that this generation has lasted FAR too long!
so they FINALLY get next gen systems, you would think they would be frothing at the mouth to lift off the shackles and be free again.
but you would think wrong.
sorry, but i just cant accept a game is truly next gen if its also on current systems.
so they expect us to spend 600+ bucks on a new console so we can play 1 or 2 exclusives, and the rest games we can already play on our current system?
yea, good luck with that!
yet another example of how the mass market is DESTROYING this industry!

Can't wait for this game. Played Thief III on the original Xbox and loved it.
