The Castle of Illusion HD remake is headed to digital platforms this summer .

For those of you who are old enough, the original Castle of Illusion for the Sega Genesis released way back in 1990. In the eyes of many, it was an instant classic, as it was one of the most accomplished and enjoyable games of its day.

Now, Sega must re-imagine this classic; they have to update it for the modern era while still retaining the original charm. In this new behind-the-scenes video, we learn that the development team takes this task very seriously and above all else, they wish to pay homage to a great old game. As far as platformers go, there were few that were better than Castle of Illusion in the 16-bit era. At least, that's how fondly I remember it, and I dearly hope Sega can provide us with an excellent and honorable remake.

I always liked World of Illusion better. It had such a lovely art direction, so vivid and the co-op was just so much fun. I am excited for this and can see myself buying it for a reasonable price. But if this succeeds and they remake a Co-op version of WoI…. Well that could just about solve every problem I have ever had about gaming this gen in reviving Platforming and Co-op games combined.
