I was just thinking about this the other day- We really don't know what Thatgamecompany is currently working on, but they must be experiencing totally ridiculous pressure.

I mean, isn't that inevitable after the amazing acclaim received by last year's award-winning Journey ? What didn't that game win? It was one of the few titles released this generation that seemed to receive a universal thumbs-up, and was even cited as being the epitome of gaming creativity and innovation. It really was a beacon in the midst of an industry saturated with shooters, action games and other generic, gritty adventures. it was just so refreshing .

The timing was perfect, the execution was pretty darn close to perfect, and the results couldn't have been better from a gamer and industry standpoint. However, doesn't this all translate to tremendous pressure for the future? How the hell do you top something like Journey ? And given the demanding nature of gamers, will "disappointed" articles be inevitable because the new project isn't up to Journey 's standards? Don't forget that the new project will likely be multiplatform, so it'll be under the scrutiny of many more gamers. Thatgamecompany has gotten progressively better over time ( flOw to Flower to Journey ), but I'm not sure the latest effort can be topped.

And if it isn't, I'm worried that too many people will get all bitter. At this rate, the game can't just be "good;" in fact, it has to be beyond "great;" it has to qualify as an elite title. I don't know about the developers in question but if it were me, I'd feel awfully stressed over the current situation. When you've hit a peak, you have to wonder just how much higher you can go, and if it's even possible…

I expect their next project to be released on the PS4, Nextbox, PC, and maybe Wii U. PS3 and 360 maybe, if it is released in a couple years.

My only hope is that their next game is as unique of an experience as the three they made exclusively for PlayStation were.

Let's hope they don't suffer the curse of leaving Sony exclusivity. Final Fantasy died, Ninja Theory can't sell anything, Insomniac is about to give birth to a turd, etc.

Part of me wonders if leaving Sony exclusivity is causal or just coincidental, but I'm also worried. As you've shown, the history of such a move hasn't boded well. I mourn the death of Final Fantasy greatness more than all the rest.

Let's hope that at least Insomniac can pull it together for inFamous: SS with that exclusivity.

In a situation like that, the only good thing to do is let go of the fear, and do one's best. That's what life has taught me.

Surely they must be.

I think Crysis 3 is a good example in this respect. It really is a solid shooter, cool story, excellent gameplay and looks absolutely fantastic. I am playing it these days, and had this been the first game in the franchise and not the third, it would have caused havoc.

But as it stands now, it's just "as expected" from that franchise. Cause I just *knew* I'd get this package when I ordered the game.

To be honest, I cannot see being problem for them, if they got praise for 'Flower' they can get praise for anything. That's why I haven't touched Journey yet. I don't want to look into it as I would want to experience it fresh, but then I don't want to be disappointed by pretentious dribble – precisely what Flower is, I'd call it a tech demo, but it is hardly pushing the capabilities of the PS3.

On a side note, what has happened to this site recently? Today I got redirected with an advert before I got to the main page and once on the main page I got a another message bombarding me about that facebook. Is this a necessity for funding? As it is making the site a bit inaccessible. I don't mean to be grouch, I just genuinely enjoy popping here every morning to catch up on the gaming news and community and I just find the interruptions slightly irritating.

You're exaggerating. There's no "bombarding" going on, especially when compared to other sites today.

There is, though, happens to me too. I have to use my Vita in oder to get away rombthat mees. Also, if I sign while viewing an article, it will redirect me to a random article. Then I have to go back to the main page and find the article I was reading.

Part of the reason I visit this site is because I don't have to make a few extra unnecessary clicks in order to get to my news.

Then people need to change their browser settings because none of that happens to me.

How do you try to overcome that pressure? You don't. Just go out and do your best. They're good enough that their best will be good enough.
