No rest for the wickedly inventive. Killer is Dead is coming from renowned developer Suda51 and Grasshopper Manufacture, but they're already talking about a new project.
As Goichi Suda told Edge , the new IP doesn't have a working title just yet, but it does have a screenshot (seen here) with the corresponding tagline- "What the hell are you looking at?"
It's being considered for both current- and next-gen consoles and it should arrive at some point next year. No More Heroes artist Yusuke Kazaki is handling the visual presentation, and the project supposedly includes a "unique online twist." As Suda51 said:
"This is going to be an action game obviously but the gameplay style is going to differ very much – it'll be unique. This is a title that [new parent company] GungHo Japan and Grasshopper Manufacture is working on together collaboratively so there will be an online feature, because that's their forte and what they specialise in.
On the simplest level it will be social, but the word social is used and misinterpreted a lot these days. GungHo has over ten years of experience in providing online gaming services so that is their strength. This is a very new style of online feature, so there's no example from the past."
We should expect something awfully special, because that's what Suda51 does. Even if it's not necessarily your cup of tea, you can never deny the inherent creativity and imagination in his productions.
