As you might've anticipated, Battlefield 4 won't be the only game to utilize EA's nifty new Frostbite 3 engine.
Two of the publisher's biggest franchises are also taking advantage of the new engine iteration, as confirmed by BioWare Edmonton and Montreal general manager Aaryn Flynn via recent Twitter update :
"For everyone who's been asking after the #BF4 reveal, #DA3 and the next Mass Effect are also using Frostbite 3. It's awesome."
We've already seen over 17 minutes of gameplay for the impressive Battlefield 4 , so now role-playing fans can look forward to seeing what Frostbite 3 can do for two of the industry's most acclaimed franchises. Dragon Age III: Inquisition is expected to release later this year, and we know BioWare is currently working on a new Mass Effect . But as the original trilogy is complete, we shouldn't be thinking of the project as "Mass Effect 4," or so the developers have been saying.
At any rate, Frostbite 3 is one of those techs that should prove effective for all types of games.
As suspected, I'm growing more and more excited about the next generation of video games the more we learn about it. PS3 has been great, but I think we're going to see some extraordinary things with PS4. New Mass Effect and Dragon Age using cutting edge, mind-blowing graphics engine? Yes please.
Definitely an improvement over the unreal 3 engine. Thankfully.
