Battlefield 4 Images For Early Perusal

Time for a sneak peek at the upcoming Battlefield 4 .

It seems three images have found their way online ; they were located on a public directory on the Battlefield blog.

One screenshot is called "Construction" and shows a team of soldiers moving down a hill; the sun makes such an intense war scene almost pretty. The other images show troops with US flags on their uniforms, which might hint at the setting and theme. Electronic Arts revealed the fourth installment in the critically acclaimed series last summer, announcing a beta that would launch Fall 2013. Those who purchased Medal of Honor: Warfighter automatically earned a spot in the upcoming test.

Of course, we have to wonder: Are these images from the PlayStation 4 version of the game…? And will we see some BF4 gameplay on a next-gen platform when more information comes our way?

Kotaku has a low res trailer up right now. Better check it out before EA squashes it until tommorow 😉

I assume that's a multiplayer beta, might have to hand it off.

With console shooters wearing me out, I have decided to purchase ARMA III and give that a try.

I still need to play Arma 3, my friend gifted it to me on Steam but I never got around to playing it yet.

Well thats interesting, because these screens look to have large amounts of detail. I mean more so than even BF3 for PC did. Im not trying to make assumptions but id bet its safe to say, these are next gen screens.

I gotta say im looking forward to this game. I really didnt like BF3. The mp was good but it didnt keep me coming back. The campaign was just blah to me. I was not impressed at all. But I feel like I didnt give it a fair chance and for that im really anxious to see how BF4 turns out.

Well it is Frostbite 3, so it should look better than Battlefield 3.

If the PS4 can look like this in 720p/60fps like the rumor suggested, it's definitely good enough for me. I swear I thought that girl towards the end was real footage. Resolution isn't exactly graphics anyway. It's like saying my 1080p Windows desktop has better graphics than your 720p desktop.

Also, the absence of next gen console confirmation is simple imo. I think EA is just waiting for the Durango to be announced so that they can just say it'll come to the PS4 and whatever the next Xbox is as an indication that it won't be PS4 exclusive or something. This isn't like a Sony conference or such.

If not, then all of what the developers have said about being satisfied with the PS4 and its power would be naught… unless they were just happy with the fact that it's easy to develop on. I hope that's not the case.

The environment, lighting/fire/explosion, and buildings did look similar to the Killzone Shadowfall demo, but beyond that it didn't show as much detail as this. I guess we'll have to wait till E3 to show more intense footages like the one we see here with BF4.

Developing a new engine (Frostbite 3), new game for potentially five different platforms (PC, PS3, 360 and (hopefully) PS4 and the next xbox) can't be an easy task. Perhaps this is partially the blame for what we've been told that next gen consoles will be limited to 720p (though 60 fps). I'm sure given more time with the next gen consoles BF BC 3 (or whatever is next) will look even better.

If all those seagulls are individual objects and not some visual trickery then colour me intensively impressed, and almost sick in longing for the next gen.

Just imagine how the next Fallout will be with environment capacities like this… Oh. My. Goddess.
