This game is going to have one hell of a cast. And the best part is that we now have a finalized launch date.

As announced over at the PlayStation Blog , Quantic Dream's hotly anticipated new adventure, Beyond: Two Souls , will release on October 8 in the US. Everyone excited?

As we all know, the Heavy Rain creators have tapped Oscar nominee Ellen Page ("Inception," "Juno") to star in the game, and we've seen multiple video examples of her in virtual action. But now there's another Oscar-nominated cast member- Willem Dafoe, who has too many film credits to list. He will play Nathan Dawkins, a government scientist who works with Jodie to analyze her powers. You can check out one of his scenes below.

Furthermore, if you wish to pre-order Beyond at GameStop, you will receive an exclusive 30-minute playable additional scene. And while supplies last, those who pre-order will be automatically upgraded to the Special Edition, which features the following:

Got just one thing to add- Gimme .

This can only be a good thing. Willem has quite a range of skills so I'm intrigued. Didn't like him at one point but he has a way of owning whatever character he portrays.

Question to my fellow PSXers. I have yet to think of my strategy for the coming holiday season which will include this game as well as others not to mention the Behometh that is the PS4. My question is… Do I go in full blast into the next gen and let these games go down in price eventually? Or, bide my time and let the PS4 gain momentum? Or balance all of the above? Decisions decisions…

This is going to be a very interesting Holiday this year.

If you have a large backlog like many of us you might consider spending those holiday dollars on PS3 games and waiting for the PS4 to rise (and possibly the cost to fall a bit) That's my strategy at the moment, but who can really predict how they'll feel later?

When I changed from PS2 to PS3 I sort of just forgot about the end-of-gen titles that I had wanted before.

I know what you mean.. Im a tech junkie.. so I most likely will get a PS4 on launch day.. it's just that I have about 70 PS3 games. I shall never compete that backlog. Lol.. But I'm definitely going to Play Beyond and the Last of Us. GTAV I may wait if they announce for PS4 too. November is so far away.

I think it can be argued that there's never been a more compelling time to NOT jump into the next gen right away.
With GT6 unofficially PS3 bound this year, among other hits like Beyond, not to mention the wealth of games hitting soon through mid-year, Bioshock (people apparantly like that one a lot 😉 GoW: A and TLoU, I feel plenty satisfied. And really, this next gen will probably be the longest running one in history so there's no reason to break the bank and get there early, at least by my perspective.

…oh, ahem, and Razor's Edge in April 😉 that ought to be on everyone's hit list as well.

woo hoo! Amazon shows it listed for $40 new. Good I was hoping they'd offer it up at a reduced price =)

My most anticipated game made even better thanks to Willem Dafoe (just bought the Blu-ray of 'To Live And Die In L.A.', in which he was typically awesome). That special edition sounds particularly attractive as well.

I wonder if he gets to go psycho at all, he's so good at that.

He could obviously pull it off, but I hope his character is a little closer to his portrayal of Detective Kimball in 'American Psycho.' Mary Harron had Dafoe play the character in different ways, then edited the takes together to give his character ambiguity.

I cant wait for this. I hope the close proximity to next gen launch titles and systems doesn't hurt its sales

With all the stuff being pushed back recently , i would nt count too much on that date to be a " finalized launch date ".

That's almost a month after the release date of GTAV. Perfect timing for the release date of Beyond: Two Souls.. ^_^

Plot holes and little flaws aside, Heavy Rain was a really great gaming experience. With Beyond Two Souls, Quantic Dream are upping their game quite a bit. I'm trying to have as little expectations as possible, but these news are really making it difficult not to be hyped for it!!

I really can't wait to play through that story over and over again, to experience all the possibilities. Now that I know that Dafoe's in it, the hype level has gone up exponentially!

Although come late august I'll be juggling my time between study and work 7 days a week, I'm hoping to have a minimum of spare time for this impressive looking title.

Can't wait!!

and EU?
sigh, typical $ony!
dam its so far away i thought we would be getting this like july or closer.
eh, 50 bucks says QD have been so hush hush on this because its also going to launch on the ps4.
that would explain why david did not show a demo at the ps4s announcement too, there not ready to reveal it yet.
