This actually brings back memories. One of the very first PS2 offerings was an Armored Core title and although this new effort isn't for the PS4, it's announced at the same time Sony revealed their new console. …sorry, just reminiscing a little.
Anyway, Namco Bandai has announced the oddly named Armored Core: Verdict Day , which is slated to launch for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 this fall.
In development at From Software, Verdict Day finds humanity at war over increasingly valuable natural resources. The game also features a "persistent multiplayer mode" comprised of territories where each faction battles for control. Each faction is made up of a number of squads, and up to 20 players can play together at the same time. If you play offline, AI will be involved, of course. There's also Operator Mode, which is a tactical top-down option where you are essentially the battle general. You'll mark targets and set rally points in real-time, too.
Lastly, this new title checks for any Armored Core 5 save data, so you can transfer your custom mech if you still have one.
