Not long after the news that North American gamers would receive the Classic White PlayStation 3 , another color appears on the horizon: Garnet Red. Sweet, huh?

Today, Sony Computer Entertainment America LLC (SCEA) has announced the new Garnet Red PS3 system, which will debut with the limited edition God of War: Ascension Legacy Bundle. This awesome package boasts all five previous games in the series, making it the ultimate collector's items for die-hard fans of the series. It'll be available on March 12 for the price of $349.

The red PS3 that comes with it will be emblazoned with Kratos' distinctive tattoo and comes equipped with a 500GB hard drive, so you can really go to town downloading stuff from the PlayStation Network. Sony has even tossed in a 30-day PlayStation Plus trial, which lets users check out the Instant Game Collection that is growing with every passing month. A Plus trial is starting to be standard fare in such bundle packages. Said SCEA vice president of platforms marketing John Koller:

We’re excited to introduce this stunning Garnet Red PS3 that pays homage to one of the best franchises ever launched on PlayStation platforms. We wanted to give our fans a complete collection of the series in this bundle so they can relive nostalgic memories of their first God of War adventure or experience the adventure for the first time if they are new to the series."

Okay, now we've got the ball rolling. Let's get some other colors, too!

That's very nice and generous of Sony to finally throw us a bone. But I was expecting something like what MS does with the Xbox which is more than just a change of color of the chassis.

I hope they offer different colored systems right off the bat when the PS4 comes around.

Beautiful! If my 500GB fatty dies this is the one I will get. Unless they come out with a blue PS3.

They already have 2 blue PS3s. The original slim had a run called "Splash Blue", and was available only in Japan as far as I know.

However, Japan and Europe are soon to be getting the new superslim "Azurite Blue" PS3.

Consider me jealous, and angry.

Hmm. I may get this. If I can somehow sneak it past the wife. The extra 500gigs would be nice. Would also compliment my Gear of War 3 360.

So they finally give us some color and they put it with it a game I have no desire to play. Wouldnt it of been better to have a ps3 specifically designed for GOW. I guess if I buy it I can always sale the game on amazon or something.

not too crash hot on the red.
id love to see a pearlescent white with kratos mug on it.
or maybe gold like the controller there doing.
nice to see $ony finally bringing other colors out though!
now only if they would start doing specially designed ones, like M$ has been doing since what halo 3?
