Prince of Persia is one of the most acclaimed and popular franchises out there, and it's unfortunate to hear that we won't be seeing a new entry any time soon.
But don't give up hope. As Ubisoft Montreal CEO Yannis Mallat told IGN , the PoP series has been "paused" while the company takes a break to come up with new ideas. However, whenever a team is willing to come up with that idea, the franchise will likely return.
"Brand management is a tricky thing. It needs people's attention a lot. I think it is fair to say that, right now, Prince of Persia is being paused. But we said the same thing for some other brands that suddenly popped up because a team is willing to do it."
Mallat added that Prince of Persia remains "part of Ubisoft's portfolio" and that they frequently give franchises "time to breathe and time to grow." Therefore, we'd like to assume that PoP might make a triumphant return in the next generation, which is an encouraging thought. Don't forget that this generation, a Prince of Persia reboot did the series proud . Man, I loved that game. Anybody remember it well?
