While everyone keeps talking about the next generation of consoles, I keep thinking about the games I still want to play from this generation.
Of course, there's a possibility that the long-anticipated title from Team ICO, The Last Guardian , will end up on the PS4. However, let's just assume the game is still intended for the PS3 and if that's the case, I want to get some new information on it. I want to play it. Soon.
If there's one game that would remind us that originality and innovation can still exist in large-scale productions, I think it'd be Guardian . I don't like it when people say there's no originality currently available, because we see a whole lot of unique and highly creative titles in the indie gaming realm. Just because they're not big-budget productions doesn't make them any less unique. However, it's also true that many of the biggest names in gaming have gotten pretty predictable as of late, and we're sort of relying on a few developers (like Quantic Dream) to give us fresh, innovative experiences.
And those who remember ICO and Shadow of the Colossus with the proper reverence fully understand just how important The Last Guardian could be. That's why I so want to play it, and I dearly hope that it hasn't been canned. They keep saying it's still in development but at this point, it's getting harder and harder to believe…
