Okay, so maybe it wasn't the best idea.
Yesterday, publisher Deep Silver announced the Dead Island: Riptide Zombie Bait Edition, which would release exclusively in the UK on April 26, 2013 and was dubbed as an "ultra collectible" version of the upcoming sequel. It holds a retail price of £99.99 ($160); the Rigor Mortis Edition for North America was revealed last week .
But that edition didn't include a decapitated bikini-clad female torso covered in blood. That's right, the UK bundle will feature this collectible item and perhaps unsurprisingly, they've taken a lot of flak for it. Now, an official reply has popped up on Twitter :
"We sincerely regret this choice. We are collecting feedback continuously from the Dead Island community, as well as the international gaming community at large, for ongoing internal meetings with Deep Silver's entire international team today. For now, we want to reiterate to the community, fans and industry how deeply sorry we are, and that we are committed to making sure this will never happen again."
Well, we'll have to see if that's enough to defuse the situation. The company hasn't said they're ditching the bloody female torso just yet, but that may end up happening. So do you think people should be offended by such a "collectible," or do you believe they're overreacting?
