Another PS2 classic is headed to the PlayStation Network, and this one is catnip for strategy/RPG aficionados.
NIS America has announced that Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories will land on the PSN on January 22 for the agreeable price of $9.99. Considering the sheer amount of content (well over one hundred hours for the hardcore), that's a whole lot of bang for your buck.
This follow-up to the runaway hit, Disgea: Hour of Darkness , featured more depth than you can shake a stick at. There was the true turn-based combat along with new gameplay features, such as the Geo Effects, which added yet another layer of complexity to each battle. Approach the Dark Assembly so you can face tougher enemies or pick up better weapons (there are multiple propositions), and get lost in the Item World maxing out each of your party's pieces of equipment. Just bear in mind that this might stop you from playing other titles… Disgaea tends to have that effect. It did for me, anyway.
The more PS2 classics that come to the Network, the more attractive the PS3 becomes in my estimation.

I am currently playing Ragnarok Tactics now and am really enjoying it. Never played this series and it always looked silly to me. Might have to try it out.
End of Line.
Funny you say silly, from what I have played they have some great anime-style humor in them. The combat and items and stuff are of course very deep though.
I can't play these games cuz they drive me insane but it's nice to see anything in the JRPG realm going strong!
Yay! I get to try the predecessor to Disgaea 4. I have really grown attached to these games. The strategy is great and the customization is even better. Really great games.
