Okay, Trekkies, time to get a little excited.
Namco Bandai and Paramount Pictures have announced that Star Trek: The Video Game is slated to arrive on April 23, 2013 for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. The title was originally supposed to release this year but was later delayed.
For the record, the PS3 and 360 versions of the game will be available at brick-and-mortar retailers, but the PC version will only be sold through digital channels. Only the PS3 version will be sold both ways; as a physical Blu-Ray disc and digitally on the PlayStation Network. If you opt to pre-order, you'll gain access to the Elite Officer Pack, which features various exclusive items and unique uniforms for Kirk and Spock. Those two are the main characters, by the way, so that ought to be an interesting storyline.
Digital Extremes ( The Darkness II ) is handling this one, and director J.J. Abrams is lending a hand as well. The game should be a great lead-in to the movie; the interactive adventure will launch three weeks before "Star Trek: Into Darkness" hits theaters on May 17, 2013.
