If we told you that a new Call of Duty would arrive in late 2013 and it would be available for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, would you be surprised?

Probably not, right? According to NowGamer , developer Sledgehammer Games (which worked with Infinity Ward on last year's Modern Warfare 3 ) is currently seeking a Senior Environment Artist.

The job description says the successful candidate must have a "desire to work on the most successful FPS franchise in the history of video games" – gee, wonder what that could be – and that the role will require the creation of single-player and multiplayer levels. It also says this person must make levels that work on "all relevant platforms" such as the Xbox 360 and PS3. Well…duh. I mean, even if the new CoD was released for a next-gen console like the PS4 or Xbox 720, did you really think there'd be any chance Activision would pass up a 160 million PS3/360 userbase…? Impossible. They kinda need that massive audience to rake in their billion dollars.

The only question now is whether or not the next Call of Duty installment will be made for either of the upcoming next-gen systems, or if it will only be generated for the current machines.

I'm not surprised, but I really wanted them to skip a year and make a really great game for next gen consoles.

It is a perfect chance to really perfect the series.

Should be funny, watch there be no difference at all between the current-gen and next gen versions.

Activision mindset: Why should we improve if we're raking in so much cash? We're filthy rich!

To be fair, I guess they don't. It seems they need a some kind of harsh, wake-up slap to reality for them to push any kind of innovation and graphical improvement.

We'll see, but it would certainly be funny, in a way that it's kind of expected lol.

yea, that deserves the title of no sh*t Sherlock!
id be surprised if its not available for next gen systems though, IF their available that is.
$ony and M$ would be beating on antivisions door every nanosecond nagging them to put it on next gen systems.
plus, added sales.
antivisions got plenty of different studios working on COD, so even if they dident want the usual studios working on a next gen project they could slap someone else with it.
maybe raven software.
sad, they are one of the best most talented studios out there!
why is it that the best developers out there have to be owned by the worst publishers?
rare owned by M$ another perfect example, i mean come on rare are far too f*cking talented to be working on kinect sports!
wish raven software would do another singularity, by far one of the most underrated games this gen!
and a shooter with a fantastic story, shock of horrors!

This crowd is filled with lazy skepticism and negativity and cheap shots.

"They have a popular franchise so they don't try": this is ridiculous. You can reasonably accuse them of sticking to a tired formula, but they've clearly put a ton of top talent on that game and have made a ton of changes.
