With the new PS3 models on the way, you had to expect some special bundle packages.
And here's a grand one: As revealed at the US PlayStation site , an Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception Game of the Year Edition PS3 bundle is a-comin' your way; it'll be available on September 25 and boast over $70 in savings.
The package, retailing for only $269.99, will boast the new 250GB PS3 (which, as you already know, will be lighter and smaller), a copy of the new Uncharted 3 Game of the Year Edition, a voucher for the upcoming MMOFPS DUST 514 with over $30 of downloadable content, a Dual Shock 3 wireless controller, and the necessary cables. If you've already got the PS3 and don't feel like ditching it for a new model, you can always pick up the Uncharted 3 GotY edition as a standalone title, which hits shelves on that same day (September 25). So yeah, that's Tuesday.
Sony is giving everyone a ton of great reasons to get involved in the PlayStation world this holiday season.
Related Game(s): Uncharted 3
That reminds me, I should probably try out that Dust beta.
Just a warnign for you, the beta at the moment is really buggy. You might like it more if you wait for the next build which should be sometime later this month. Or just understand that this is a true beta, not a demo or a stress test like many other betas have been this gen. I don't think you would unfairly judge it, but I just wanted to give you a heads up is all.
I guess they used all that savings from the redesigned PS3 for a bigger hard drive and this package deal. PS3s must be selling well for them to keep the price above $250. Perhaps, the PS3 won't get a price cut till the Vita gets one.
Everyone across the internet is asking or wishing for a price cut or reduction. The negativity or the, "trolling" is just too much for me to bare. Sometimes, I wish I had never discovered the web browser.
Anyway, this is probably the model I'll be buying. I actually like the design and even the new-old way of inserting a disc into the system. I was planning on getting Uncharted GOTY edition at some point anyways. The Dust 514 DLC is a welcoming plus.
@Killa I'm not a fan of the trolling either, but I think people expected more of a price change with the redesign. The last redesign came with a significant price cut.
In fact, ignoring HDD size, the current "base" PS3 is $250. With this, the new "base" PS3 will be $270. I know you get a large HDD, a game, and dlc but I just want the system, not the extras, I'm sure others do too. Are consumers really going to notice the extras? Most will just see the PS3 costs X and the other systems cost Y and the PS3's base model is more than it's major competitor's base model.
I really like the design, will probably pick one up as my second PS3 but I don't need the "$70 in savings". I was expecting just a system in the $200-$225 range. Heck, even last year's Black Friday price on the PS3 was $200.
I'm really not trying to troll. I'll be happy if, come the holidays, they're selling just the system at the $200 range. I think they'll need to if they want to compete.

I would've picked one up if Sony didn't implement the 2 PS3s per PSN account rule. I understand why but from 5 to 2 was drastic. 3 would've been perfect.
You can have as many as you want, as long as they are not all activated on the same PSN account. You can actually activate any number of PS3s it's just that the activation of content is limited to only two of them…Of course you know who to thank for that limitation. :/

Let's see, this is a bundle priced out at $269.99. It comes with the Uncharted 3 GOTY (retails at $59.99) and the DUST package is $30 – giving a nominal value of $90. Realistically, the bundled software is probably really more in the $60-$70 range of value. So as Thedaini suggested the real price of the PS3 in this bundle is about $200.
Now, why do this? Where is the 12GB Flash model? I think this might be Vita related. I don't think Sony wants the PS3 selling below the price of the cheapest Vita. So I suspect that what we will see is this bundle and no 12GB flash model until the PSVita price falls to $200 for the Wi-fi model. When that happens I think we will see an unbundled 12GB Flash model arrive at $199.99. I think Sony only wants to have two SKUs for their PS3s and so when that happens the 500GB model will drop to $249.99 and we'll see this 250GB model used in game promotional bundles that will also be priced at $249.99. The $269.99 is such an odd price point, I think it is just temporary until the Vita price drop opens the way for a cheaper price.
I also think that Sony will ultimately sell a 12GB Flash based PS3 bundled with a PS Vita with a 8GB card and probably a downloadable game like Hot Shots for $399.99. That bundle may wait for tighter integration between Vita and PS3 though – remote play, cross play and cross controller. Doing so would pitch PS3/Vita right against the WiiU, but of course unlike WiiU's tablet controller, the Vita is a fully fledged gaming device and not simply a satellite screen with controls.
The Uncharted 3 GOTY edition retails at $40.

Here's EB Games Australia's current prices for consoles, including the new model PS3. All prices are Australian dollars, not US.
Halo 4 bundle Xbox 360 (320GB HDD + 2 controllers) – $499
250GB Xbox 360 with Black Ops 2 – $499
Wii U Premium Black bundle – $429
250GB Xbox 360 (4 XBLA games + 3 months Live Gold) – $399
500GB new look PS3 with 2 free games – $399
PS Vita Wifi with Uncharted Golden Abyss – $359
160GB PS3 Slim – $349
Wii U White Basic bundle – $349
New 12GB PS3 console – $299
3DS XL + game – $279
4GB Xbox 360 Slim – $249
Nintendo Wii + game – $199
So there you have it, in order of most expensive to cheapest, PS3 is by FAR the better deal. Only reason to get a 360 these days is to replace your old broken one or succumb to peer pressure and buy Halo 4.
Heck, even the Wii U is cheaper than a 360!!!
If Sony hadn't given MS such a massive head start this gen (and if the launch had been a bit smoother) the 360 would be pretty much dead in the water right now.
Hope you fanboys like Halo 4, cos it's all you're getting. And no, your quality vs quantity argument is no longer valid, not with games like The Last of Us, Beyond: Two Souls and God of War Ascension showing that quality + quantity can still be achieved, and only on Sony platforms.
