Ben-DutkaJust about the only thing I'm clinging to in the FF universe right now is that Final Fantasy X HD reimagining.
And if Square Enix takes that away and just leaves us all with Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII and still no unveiling of Final Fantasy Versus XIII , I might officially give up.
FFX HD was announced a full year ago at the Tokyo Game Show in 2011. We haven't heard anything about it since then, so PSU tried to get a status update from Square Enix. As you can see, that didn't go well. Senior Public Relations Manager David Yang said:
"Thanks for your inquiry. We have no information on FINAL FANTASY X HD to share at this time."
So then they just wanted to know if the game was still in development and again, concerning vagueness:
"Again, we have no information we can share at this time. Sorry."
Oh, that's just grand . The one thing they could've done to actually appeal to the legions of jilted fans and- Okay, let's not overreact. Having dealt with Square Enix PR in the past, this is a pretty typical response (you'd get it a thousand times if you tried getting any info on Versus XIII , for example). They really don't like talking to the press unless they're prepared to talk.
That being said, Square Enix, don't you…just don't…I swear…

I never understood why they we're doing this in the first place. Nor if it was just a HD upgrade or a proper remake… none of this has ever been clear since the announcement.
In any case, I probably would get it if released, until then I am certainly content with my PS2 version.
It was just FFX in HD.
The reason they are doing it in the first place is because people like you "probably would get if released".
Obvious they are busy making that third FFXIII game.
Are we surprised, really? This is Squeenix, after all. History would suggest that pleasing the fans isn't exactly at the top of their to-do list.
Indeed, there is definitely no excuse for Type-0 it's already been out in Japan for a year!
On the contrary, I believe they have a pretty good excuse of why they haven't released it here. Same reason why Capcom didn't release Monster Hunter 3rd here.
The sales for PSP games in the U.S SUCK – plain and simple. They either get pirated or whatever.
Why spend all that extra money on localizing it when you'll hardly see a return.
There are very few hardcore fans like us which would want a game like FF Type-0 to come here.
Since when were FF fans considered a niche group? It would sell fine here, I'm sure Crisis Core did too. But I think they are going to port it to Vita instead.
This game should never have been announced. S-E are known for announcing something 3 years before they should

It's easy money, I don't understand why in the hell they would not re-release it. Same goes for Shenmue HD.
My hope is that shenmue 3 is secretly being made and they are waiting to release shenmue 1 and 2 HD before they release shenmue 3.

As far as I can tell, this was just PSU desperate for hits. It's a stock standard response that ANY company doles out. To read more into it is… stupid. Sure, it'll take time; S-E have proven that much with FFXIII and Versus this gen, but that doesn't mean it isn't eventually going to come out.
They said the same thing at the FF anniversary though, kind of an important place to maybe say "It's coming along"
Fair point. And HD remasters do NOT take this long to make, but it's been unclear since the beginning whether this is a simple update or something more akin to a remake. I'm not that worried about it tbh. S-E are only gonna butcher it anyway.

Those are ALL of the games announced for the HD treatment AFTER Square announced "Final Fantasy X HD" and guess what? They ALL have release dates/windows.
What about this game though after a whole year of nothing? Still no comment.
Between this game, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Type-O, and everything else, I'm wondering if Square is seriously just incompetent at their job or are they TRYING to fail?

I would like this FFX HD more if they went ahead and included FFX-2, but it looks like I'm pushing the buttons here. TBH, I'm starting to feel Kingdom Hearts HD and this HD we are not going to see the light of day.
I was planning to buy this, if it ever releases. If SE wants any more of my money, they would do well to make sure FFX HD sees the light of day.
Dammit I was hoping to play it soon along with FFXII HD or maybe I should start learning how to make those myself because you can't count on anybody except yourself.
Sigh…as soon as I heard the announcement of this game and that it would go to vita I decided right then that I would wait for that to buy a vita under the hopes they do a speciall "Blitzball" edition bundle with a blue/white vita.
I convinced myself that this would be such a good idea for the health of the vita that sony would hold a fire under squares butts to get this done. If they would put Tidus in All-Stars battle royale and have my bundle out for the holidays I'd love to see the vita compete in the market this xmas
But anyways. I guess the lack of info isn't all bad. At least I can just go buy a vita now and quit holding my breath.
This is Bullshit, PCSX2 can render this game into HD. There should be NO reason why it isn't working. It takes like no time. Plus it isn't a remake.
If they cancel it we should all send them angry letters. 🙁

Square Enix just sucks as a company. Plain and simple. Final Fantasy games have been good before – but not since FF X really. No other company takes 6 – 8 YEARS to develop a single game. Especially a sequel or remake… They need to get their act together – re-organize or whatever they need to do – and put out a GOOD GAME that takes less than 4 years to make.
It is very possible – other companies do it all the time. Heck, Square-Enix /USED TO/ do it all the time. Then when the PS3 came out, they forgot everything they ever knew about creating games it seems. I don't know – they just lost their minds somehow. It is very sad and maddening at the same time. There is no excuse for how long they take to actually produce ANYTHING.
