Your wallet is gonna get knocked for a loop this fall.
Previously, we discussed the amazing number of potentially great games scheduled to arrive over the course of the next six or seven months. But even if we dismiss everything after December 31, you're looking at a span of time that will unlikely boast a lot of disappointments.
Maybe it's just because all the developers have had plenty of years to become familiar with the available hardware. That could be it. When you look at what's going to be available between now and Christmas, it's difficult to see any title that might fall flat (thereby giving you and your wallet a break). There's no doubt that Assassin's Creed III , Medal of Honor: Warfighter , Call of Duty: Black Ops II , and Halo 4 will hit hard. But what about the others? Counting on some flops so you can breathe a little easier? Don't bother.
We've already seen a leaked review for Resident Evil 6 , scheduled for October 2. Looks pretty damn good. Any chance Dishonored , releasing the following week on the 9th, will fail to impress? Based on all the media we've seen, not likely. What about September? Well, fighting fans will be more than satisfied with Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and Dead or Alive 5 . And then there's Borderlands 2 …not allowed to say much right now but trust me. It's a beast. Not only is it destined to take up a gigantic chunk of time, but it's also one of those games that seems to demand attention from both a single-player and multiplayer perspective.
And damn, you might already be playing catch up because last month, two great games came out in the same week; Darksiders II and Sleeping Dogs . As if that wasn't bad enough, this quality extends beyond the PlayStation universe; the Wii U will launch in November with a goodly assortment of games, many of which could be top-notch. And then there's the Vita, which wowed everyone at Gamescom and will be coming hard with several pieces of potentially AAA software ( Assassin's Creed III: Liberation , Tearaway , LittleBigPlanet , and Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified ). So if you've got the PS3, 360, Vita and Wii U sitting there around December…look the hell out.
Oh, and by the way, you know how you can usually rest up after Thanksgiving? December isn't typically loaded. Yeah, too bad- Far Cry 3 is set for December 4. The only good news is that then you get a break of about a month…before it all starts again in mid-January with DMC and about a million more on the Q1 horizon.
Anybody got an extra $400 they can donate to my charity. Buy games for seniors, is my charity.
Seriously? Even an 8year old selling lemonade in the street earns more than 500 every month. If you are that cheap that you can't afford 4-5 games in a quarter then by all means die and leave this planet.

Wow this guy's a dick. Saying someone is cheap is one thing, but wishing death upon them is pretty messed up. Then again, he is 1337, so maybe he is just better than everyone else. Ah never mind. Who am I kidding? Using 1337 in a username speaks volumes about a person… 😉
Yeah, pretty lame dude. Not everyone that earns money has 100% disposable income. We can't all live in mommy and daddy's basement just to mock the people taking a real stab at life.
Nothing wrong with living at home if you need to get set up… but 2 things… 1) If you're talking to people the way you are now, maybe mom and dad need to kick you out into the real world. and 2) If you're earning enough to blow $500 on video games every month and still have money for other things, you should probably consider moving out soon…
I'm no doctor or wealthy entrepreneur, but I make a modest living at 4-5k per month. But I've got bills to pay like the other big boys here. Mortgage, car, food, living costs, clothes, a son, RRSP's, RESP's, you know…. LIFE. And there's no way I'd be spending $400 per month, or even per quarter on average, on video games. It's not because I'm cheap. It's because I'm responsible.
And aside from that, everyone is at a different stage in life with different costs and income… and everyone lives within their means. To have some A-hole come on here and mock them for not buying 4-5 games per quarter is insulting, ignorant, and childish. Some people on here, I know, can't afford more than 1-2 new games per year. Why? Because they work hard and pay their own way through life. Simple as that.
Seriously… no need for you to go all emo on him.

Stop acting like you're 12, stay3r1337.
Show me the 8-year old who makes 500 bucks a month and give you a cream bun, a tax audit, and a visit from child protection services.
@Comic Shaman
HA! Nice.
Lots of games this fall. Right now my only Day 1 purchases will be Dishonored (preordered) and Halo 4. AC3 and Playstation Allstars (which seems to get NO love on this site oddly enough) will most likely be purchased off of Amazon after a price drop.
Also a very good chance I take the plunge and get a Vita bundle this fall. Depends on how much disposable income I have though. Please don't tell me to die and leave this planet if I can't afford it though, stay3r1337 🙁
stay3r1337,
Wow, I didn't expect that….what a douche of a remark for anyone to say!
When I was working, I was able to spend between $2500 to $3000 yearly on my hobby of gaming collections.
But no that I've been laid off(over 16 months now), I've gone through all my life savings & even had to dissolve my 401K retirement fund, which all that money has now been depleted too.
And it's gotten so bad that I now HAVE to eat those "5 for a $1" Ramen noodle packs, for breakfast, lunch, & dinner.
So these days, I can't even afford to buy even a 1/2 price off of a $5 sticker'ed bargain-binned game.
Plus, if things get any worse, and even if I don't want to, I just might have to start selling off all of my gaming collections.
Just saying……
Ah, biker, I admire your collection so much! I hope it doesn't come to that. :'(
Not a lot of money at the moment. I *might* get Resident Evil 6 though. I know 5 got a lot of flak, but I stand by the fact it was a really fun game with split-screen co-op. An entirely different experience from single player. I already have a friend who says she would like to play it with me, and a couple more elsewhere for the 4-player parts. I would get AC III, but I still need to play II, Brotherhood, and Revelations (I know, I know…)
For me ACIII is preordered (soooooo excited for it), and I'm seriously tempted to get Dishonored and Far Cry 3. I'm just curious, do you guys think Far Cry 3 is worth getting? It's looking pretty damn good.
If you have the money to spare I would say FC3 is definitely going to be worth it, I played FC2 and there is a lot to do in a big open world so I just figure part 3 is an improvement in every way based on the trailers. And the setting looks a lot more interesting.
Yes.
Both Far Cry's (at least for PC) were awesome, I fully expect FC3 to be awesome.
I'm disappointed with the coop play in FC3, but as a single player game Far Cry 3 looks to be a sure winner.

The line-up is big but i am only interested in three upcoming releases; Dead or Alive 5, Resident Evil 6 & Hitman Absolution.
so glad i preordered most of the games im getting already…MoH, Borderlans 2, ACIII, Dishonered and i feel like im missing anoter one, had to stagger the payments so i didnt bankrupt myself, my wallet already hates me
Its going to be a very expensive fall but my birthday is in November so I can count on gift cards to help me out.
I think you'd have to give up your life and job/school to play all this stuff. Wish I had the money to get them all on day 1. Fall for me is DOA5 and Dishonored. Then next year gets started off right with Ni No Kuni.
Darn right World! I was just going to say that its looking a little ridiculous really, I mean how can people honestly afford this?
I just read a Financial Times report that states "real wages" for most working people have stagnated (and in some cases decreased), and will remain stagnant or depressed for some time to come. We have seen overall game industry earnings down somewhat… the last sets of numbers coming out of NPD were not good.
I guess we are seeing evidence of that economic suppression in those numbers to some extent. Sure we will see an earnings spike in the fall and over the Christmas period, but with so much product out there how will these companies make back what they are investing. Nintendo has got quite a way to go in getting their share price back to where it was, and to prove the Wii U is a goer… anyway we will see.
I expect PS3 to do well though. I have a few hundred dollars spare for those top notch exclusives, whilst I bulk up games on my Android tablet too, for playing on the go. "Shadow Gun" is awesome…
Q!
"play.experience.enjoy"
In general the numbers show the rich are getting richer and everyone else is getting poorer.
Its getting to the point where its becoming too much for the individual to handle.
Too many choices, not enough $$.
I'll be getting ACIII & Lego LOTR.
As much as I'd like getting some of these games on day one, I will wait for them to get cheap 'cause I still have a few on my backlog to get finished… by the time I'm done they'll be cheap as dirt! 😀
And again will have a massive backlog to mow down… lol

Halo 4, FC3, AC3, TTT2, DOA5, and Darksiders 2 are all on my hit list. I also suspect in less than 9 months I'll have most of them for $20, or less. Heck, I'm banking on a Darksiders 2 Steam blow out deal for the holidays. And AC3 will go cheap before long, less than a year long, I'll wait.
Ben Dutka secretly wants a Honey Boo Boo Child RPG. A dolla makes me holla Honey Boo Boo!
Please don't make retarded posts.
Who actually types out "dolla" anymore?
As Gary Coleman used to say….
"Whatch U talkin' bout Willis?"
… And how about NFS: Most Wanted? That one looks *mighty* fine! Burnout Paradise 2… The game I've wanted for years.
NFS:MW right now is my most anticipated console game. Lack of mention is disappointing given it's almost a given to be highly reviewed and popular.
Resident Evil 6, AC 3, AC 3 Liberation, Halo 4 and Hitman are the games I'm getting. Would like to get Tekken Tag 2, DoA 5 and LBP Vita as well but those will have to wait unfortunately. It'll be tough enough to save for the others considering I'm getting the Collector's editions of RE and Halo.
Absolutely true and there are a ton of games that I would love to get and play. Unfortunately, I'm in a saving crunch so I'm basically limited to one new game. And that one, I've long since decided, is XCOM: Enemy Unknown. Hardly a popular choice, but it's something different and I need that at this point. I said basically; I'm also tossing up the possibility of Hitman, depends whether I have the extra cashola to throw around.
After that, unless I can get some freebies, it's all about the backlog 😀

I'm gonna need to look up videos on that one because I have it written down as a must buy, I just cannot remember what it was. Was it the RTS/Base Building type game?? If so then I remember why I must have it, as there haven't been many if any really of those types of games this gen.
Indeed, but I believe it is more of a turn-based strategy in the vein of Valkyria Chronicles. I am terrible indeed at RTS games and tend to avoid them like the plague.
Yeah Xcom! Of course. That one is on my radar too. The vids I've seen looks pretty promising.
I don't have high hopes for Hitman though – but I'd love to be proven wrong.

Yeah…I looked up just the one video and remembered that the game looks awesome. I am glad you brought it up as I pretty much forgot about it, and it might be my most anticipated game for the rest of this year, who am I kidding it is! I cannot wait to play that one.
The line up for me is actually promising as most of the games I have zero interest in as far as playing. The only 3 I can think of off the top of my head that I really want to get are Sleeping Dogs(I know its out), Borderlands II, & Dishonored the rest of the games can wait till they hit a collectors price for me.
Truthfully, not very impressed. I'll probably get around to playing most of these but I'm not geeking all over my trousers over any of them in particular.
AC is great but kinda tired (I might just get Liberation until ACIII is cheap) and I'm not too thrilled about the time period/location because one of my favorite aspects of the Creed series was the awesome architecture and dizzying heights. The yearly military shooters are passes for me these days, RE6 looks pretty decent, Dishonored looks cool but not earth-shattering, and Borderlands 2 looks fun but I haven't played the original so I'm not as hyped as some. Actually, it's disappointing enough that my most anticipated (console) games to play from this year are probably Sleeping Dogs and a title you didn't even mention in the article: PS All-Stars (I didn't think I was going to want either of these games when they were announced but I've grown excited about them since: Sleeping Dogs because the reviews renewed my hopes for it and All-Stars looks damn fun even though I've never been much into brawlers).
Yeah, disappointing but I'll live because I have barely switched on my PS3 since getting my brand-shiny-new Vita! Now I have a backlog of Vita games to go with my PS3 backlog and I couldn't be any more content for the time being 🙂
Now next year is a different story altogether…
Really? I am not buying a single game this fall… and it's not just because I have to be tight on money. There is just nothing I want. Tekken Tag 2, RE6, Assassins Creed 3, Allstars might be interesting titles, but I'm not excited enough to buy them on release. If anything I am considering buying Pandoras Tower next for the Wii…
2013 is going to make up for this year, I have only bought 2 new games Final Fantasy XIII-2 & The Metal Gear Solid HD Collection. Which is not much at all, especially for me! But 2013 has so many titles on the horizon. Bioshock: Infinite, TOMB RAIDER, No Ni Kuni, Beyond, Lat of Us…. Maybe MG: Rising & Ground Zero along with Lighting Rises. looking forward to a lot next year, all 2012 has done is let me save up for the onslaught of 2013.
If you've only bought two games all year and nothing in the fall interests you, I have to question whether you're even interested in video games. It just sounds ridiculous to me.

Can we really consider MGS:HD Collection new?
Just sayin'… <_< >_>
Too many games and not enough money..Gotta get started on Christmas shopping for the kids..I'll be able to snag maybe 3 games and that's a stretch..Yet Black Friday is right around the corner so I'm sure I'll be able to grab quite a few games for cheap.
personally I'm gonna have to put a cap on what games I by this quarter and the next. Though I'm quite certain that whatever I do buy I'll probably get my money's worth.
Glad I'm not that big into FPS games.
I have four games coming up for the rest of this year that I have interest in, well three and an expansion (WoW nerd, piss off) next week and then at the end of October ACIII, Need For Speed: Most Wanted and then WWE '13 all pre-ordered months ago and coming out on the same freakin' day, I'm likely to dump WWE '13 (unless a good deal is to be had before release) because I have more incentive/interest in keeping the other two pre-orders and while I give THQ/Yuke's a chance every couple years to get their shit together it wouldn't really be any skin off my nose to wait and see. Doesn't help that with the last one I bought (SvR2011) I platted in a month and barely went back to it since. It'll probably be cancelled by October 25th unless something changes my mind.
ACIII is going to be the first Assassin's Creed I've pre-ordered, I didn't get into the series until a year and a half ago, still haven't played AC1 though I have it thanks to Revelations. It's a pre-order I could dump too and continue my tradition of waiting but I have some incentive to keep with the pre-order bonuses and "steel book" though perhaps that shouldn't be incentive enough, with Brotherhood and Revelations though I got invested in the story though I'll miss Ezio.
As for Liberation well, I'm afraid it's getting lost in the shuffle as I'm totally fine waiting a good amount of time before buying it as I don't know if I could take playing ACIII and then another AC game right after again (or at the same time) without a break in between like I did with Brotherhood and Revelations five months ago due to the big discount on AC:R at Best Buy. AC3:L would probably burn me out before I even finished either game. Speaking of burnout…
NFS: MW is currently the game I'm looking forward to most due to Criterion's last two games in Burnout Paradise and NFS: Hot Pursuit (not counting Crash) and what they've built upon with this one, I have at least one other person likely to buy the game and hopefully more and will likely end up with multiple people on my friends list with it. It's probably going to be my "social" console game for awhile and hopefully EA really considers and gets on board with the cross-buy gimmick for it because then I'll be playing it even more with my PSV and probably more into buying the DLC because of it. Hopefully it'll be at least on par with Paradise's support.
All in all, money isn't the issue so much as time is, hell I probably shouldn't buy anymore games until my massive backlog is cleared out but we know how that goes and if I did that I wouldn't be buying anything for at least a year.
I think I'm one of the few people interested in more niche titles this Fall than (most) big Blockbuster video games.
Games on my list to purchase Day 1:
– Assassinâs Creed III
– Hitman: Absolution
– NiGHTS into Dreams… HD
– Oddworld: Munchâs Oddysee HD
– Okami HD
– Ratchet & Clank: Deadlocked HD
– Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault
Games I'll eventually purchase this year:
– Darksiders II
– Dishonored
– Killzone Trilogy
– PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale
– Resident Evil 6
– Sonic Adventure 2 HD
– Zone of the Enders HD Collection
Still a large selection (I picked up Jet Set Radio HD last week) but overall, most of them are old(er) games.
Not interested in anything that says, "Halo, Call of Duty," or "Medal of Honor" and don't own a PSVita so my wallet won't hate me THAT much… I hope.
