In addition to boasting what should be a robust campaign, Call of Duty: Black Ops II has a clear focus: Wowing the world with its multiplayer.

And that's essentially what it did at Gamescom last month. Activision has released a new Multiplayer Accolades trailer that shows off some in-game footage along with a whole lot of happy, very energetic fans.

The trailer also highlights a lot of lofty praise from sources like GameSpot (Best of Gamescom), Joystiq, IGN, EGM, Forbes, G4, and MTV, so that's pretty impressive. Love it or hate it, there's no doubt that Call of Duty always brings the goods when it comes to online multiplayer, and everything we've seen and heard about Treyarch's latest is extremely positive. So, you on board when the title launches on November 13? Everyone else seems to be.

I'm a fan of the Black Ops campaign. I thought it was good. The mp not so much. I couldn't play it. So I'm hoping it's at least better than that. Sounds like it will be!

Huge fan of Treyarch and all their CoD iterations! I am very excited for this release. Give me more MP and Zombies and I will be a happy gamer.

I belong to the weird ones, those who politely pass on this one while patiently holding out those extra months for our personal shooter heaven, both when it comes to SP and MP: Crysis 3.

Crysis 2 was good in both aspects. Crysis 2 did a lot of things absolutely right. definitely looking forward to that one. I'm really looking forward to MoH Also.

But I still Want to play CoD as well.

Oh yeah, I don't in any way look down on COD players. No sir, not me. I just had a severe, major COD overdose some years ago that is stuck in me.

But Crysis 2 was such an awesome game that I even found it was fun doing the MP all by myself. Yup, completely on my own, didn't know a soul. And *that* is rare for me. Usually the social aspect of multiplayer gaming, to hang out with friends, is the most important part of it.

… Oh man I can't wait to get back into that suit!

Yup. Who cares about single player in a COD game? It's clearly catered to multiplayer, so all the MP awards are not a surprise. It looks great, but I don't understand all the "groundbreaking" quotes.

I'm looking forward to the competitive scene on Black Ops 2. If I like it, I'm selling MW3 and MW2. I didn't like MW3 that much though, me and a couple of buddies are going to be making a Team hopefully.

BO2 might be my last CoD, and leave the CoD scene for better games out there once I'm done with BO2.

Not saying that I don't enjoy other games though which I certainly do, I only put up with CoD because of my buddies play it.

Lol it's so funny how it seems everyone who plays COD always seemingly feel the urge to insist that they *do* play other games too. 😀

I do play other games besides CoD. But other people get the impression that if someone plays CoD they don't. Which is true for most, but not me.

… And I do believe you, Clam! 😀 Of course I do. You didn't get my point.

I think it's funny how everyone immediately starts excusing why they play COD, and insist they play other games too. We don't see that with other titles, only whenever COD is the topic.
It's quite silly that it's come to this.

@World
Indeed, I'm aware of this because I do know a couple of friends that only play CoD which I don't get how they can play it for so long and not get tired of it and want to play a different game.

I like other games other than CoD, to me CoD really isn't that great of a game, I like my RPG games, Racing, Action Adventure. The only reason why I play CoD is because my friends play it and they want me to play with them we do have some fun times but if they didn't play I definitely would not be buying it.

@Beamyboom

I do know what you mean though. But it's the way you worded it that made it seem like it was directed towards me so I just wanted to clarify my stance on it.

But we don't really know though, maybe what they say is true? I know it is for me, I do only play it because my friends want me to play it with them, but I do have fun playing with them because they joke a lot and they know how to have a good time.

It impresses me that people waste their time on it, if I was like 14 that would be a great use of late night weekends but as a grown up I like to know the time I spend gaming is spent accomplishing something in a sort of narrative. Not always, I mean sure some games are just to screw around in, but nothing feels better than moving forward in something epic.

personally, I'm not a huge narrative guy. I like fun gameplay most. My comment was mostly just for jest 😉
Though, check out that video. Was there an age and gender restriction or are these the boys who couldn't cut it in highschool sports or get a girlfriend?

I watched a multiplayer dev interview, and it is shocking how they use the same tired tricks every year to hype up multiplayer. None of these features are really new they just say they are. I will admit this game will probably be better than MW2 and MW3 because Treyarch actually seems to try to shake things up a bit.

But to say that this is new stuff is just silly. Good fun multiplayer? Probably, but man I just can't believe the PR spins they put on everything that 80% of the population falls for. I don't doubt this will sell millions, or even that it will be decent. But man the lies and hype they sell these games on is astounding, even more the people who fall for it.

Remember when they said the same stuff for MW3, about the create a class and skill streaks. It was a small little twist on the same formula and still felt like the same game. Not that that is a bad thing but man, its amazing that in MW3s case they charged 60 bucks for over glorified DLC.

BO2 actually doesn't look just like DLC though, the art direction is enough to show me that. However could it have just been a 30 dollar expansion pack? Most likely.

As far as it offering the best multiplayer experience, come on. Anyone who plays competitive games, which I have knows that the lag and hit detection in all the CoD games except MW1 has been terrible. The perks and killstreaks make it so hard to keep balanced in the competitive space that saying this is a competitive game is like saying mario cart wii is a competitive racing game.

There are too many gimicks and perks and streaks that get in the way of pure skill, and when it comes to shooters you can't have this on the competitive scene.

On a side note I will get it cheap for zombies.

"BO2 actually doesn't look just like DLC though, the art direction is enough to show me that. However could it have just been a 30 dollar expansion pack? Most likely."

Are you joking me , we could say this about pretty much all mp mode in sequels .

Well look at Counter Strike Global Offensive. Its the same engine only oerhauled reworked physics and gun mechanics but it is largely the same game. Guess how much that game costs? 15 bucks and it gets free and consistent patches and free maps.

I'm just saying don't fall for this crap. It is going to be the same old call of duty, the graphics are a nice change but seriously all the hype and the "esport" garbage is just a bit lie. I played competitive games on PC and if this game becomes an esport then esports have lost the standards they used to have.

If however they fixed the hit registration and lag and garbage matchmaking I would probably buy this. I just don't get why people fall for their marketing tricks.

If we were talking about mw 3 then i would totally agree but black ops 2 have more then enough change to make it feel like a new game worth 60 instead of feeling like dlc ( like mw3 ) .

Also not everyone fall for it they just like cod more then any other fps out there , just like me .

They made more change then i hoped ( especially new graphics ) so that time it s not even i question if i ll buy it or not .

One thing i can easily agree with you tho is the esport thing .I was going crazy having to hear them talk about it all the time during the 3 day streams i saw .Pretty much bno one cares about that crap .

"If however they fixed the hit registration and lag and garbage matchmaking I would probably buy this."

The big reason why i play those on pc , nothing can beat servers where i have 30-50 ping all the time (execpt mw2-3 where you re stuck with matchmaking ccrap ) .

ahhh, you play it on the PC. Yeah treyarch treats the PC players with respect. Servers are the way to play it man. Also there is none of this aim assist nonsense that plagues the console version.

I do think BO2 is worth more than 30 bucks, I was just saying that in most cases CoD is only a slight bit different from the previous one.

I will probably pick this up for zombies sometime as I think Treyarch made something really special there.

Like beam, i'm holding out for the likes of crysis 3 and bioshock. Also really looking forward to rainbow 6 patriots. I'm more of a third person shooter type guy and Ghost recon: Future soldier confirmed that. Such a fun game although i don't think people give it enough credit. Bugs aside, GR:FS is a blast!!! I really hope black ops 2 is fun though. i enjoyed black ops and i do love battlefield. I'm just kind of getting bored with the same ol military shooters. I'm actually far more interested in farcry 3 than i am COD BO2.

But Beamboom I do play other games.

I play my single games and normally jump online to be with my clanmates and mates from 10pm of a night.

I have played many a single player game and sometimes more often than not will continue with the single player game unless it is a dedicated league night and then 10pm im online.

It is only lately I have been signed in when playing my single player stuff so I can chat to Frosty and Dillon.

I have played Enslaved loved this game, Sleeping Dogs omg what a cool game. Rage on and off, Assasins Creed, Skyrim (loved this) Dark and Demon Souls and still loving it. So to say

"Lol it's so funny how it seems everyone who plays COD always seemingly feel the urge to insist that they *do* play other games too. :D"

Yet I am one of those but I do not play COD all the time. I love my single player stuff more than online.

For me what makes online fun is the banter with my clanmates and real mates. 🙂
