Hope you like the free-to-play model because that's essentially the future, or so it seems.
Ubisoft has revealed that Spartacus Legends , the title based on the hit TV series, will release as a free-to-play title on both the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade in 2013.
Obviously, the whole trick of "free-to-play" is that it isn't necessarily free if you wish to wish to enjoy the full experience. In Spartacus Legends , you will be able to purchase equipment that will help you in the Coliseum. But in order to obtain the higher-level equipment, you'll have to up your "fame," so new players willing to spend a little cash won't automatically have the edge in combat. Remember, this is the game that has you living the life of a gladiator, and that includes everything from practicing at the training grounds to deadly battles in the arena.
If you're a fan of that time period and setting, you should probably give it a try. And hey, it's free to start playing, at any rate.

Ha, good one Highlander =)
It can only be the future if it works, right? Well, I personally hope that it won't so I won't be supporting this kind of practice… not that I'm gonna make a difference or anything lol.
Love the Spartacus show, it's not the same without Andy Whitfield & co but it's still great. I might try out the free version for a little fun but the odds that I would microstransact are about the same as the odds that I personally could defeat the Shadow of Death.
I'm assuming this is made by the folks who made The Deadliest Warrior games. Pipework Games? Anyway, those games left a lot to be desired even though I admired their efforts to try something more original.
I saw the potential in those games. Did you ever play bushido blade? I would really love someone to make a new version of that. I had some hilarious sleep over parties when I was in public school and that game was the center piece of it. Coming back to win a fight after your arm and legs were gimped was just awesome.
I felt deadliest world tried to do this but fell a little short.
Yah, I had Bushido Blade many years back. It was one of the first 3D fighters, like fully drectional. It was ambitious for its time but I think it needed more meat to its play. Didn't both it's sequel and Tobal 2 never make it state or providence side?
Anyhow, yah, the Deadliest Warrior had many cool concepts but the execution on everything was pretty much sucky.
