It has been nearly 12 years since we saw Tekken Tag Tournament . Yup, 12.
And finally, next week, the sequel will arrive. Those who remember the launch of the PS2 back in 2000 certainly recall the popularity of the original TTT, and many are looking forward to the long-awaited TTT2.
So how is it shaping up? Well, it seems the world's first review is in , courtesy of Famitsu. The biggest Japanese gaming source awarded the anticipated game three 10s and a 9, falling just shy of the coveted perfect score (40). Now, we never know what to think about Famitsu's scores, just because they've been accused of being biased before ('cough' Nintendogs 'cough') and Japanese interest and appreciation remains different from the west.
Still, that has to be a good sign, right? And since when do we see bad Tekken games, anyway? Tekken Tag Tournament 2 is set for September 11 so get ready to throw down.

Wow that's Duke Nukem Forever length of wait time. I hope the fans love it as much as they did back then. I feel like a dildo for spending $20 on Soul Calibur V. What happened there? Oh well, countdown to DOA…
Was that SC:V of yours a used copy? Or is it that cheap right now? I like my Tekken, but if other fighting games like DOA are good as well, I may need some help choosing. I guess I'm pretty open-minded when it comes to fighting games.
I'm so sick of Soul Calibur. Give me Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition for my fighting needs. Though I'll admit, a new Tekken Tag sounds intriguing…
Ah man, I forgot about that Street Fighter game too. What the heck. There's so many.
I bought it used on ebay, hadn't planned to but Highlander really blasted the game. Now I'm glad I did. Somethings just… wrong with it.
Dang, I'll just take your guys' word for it. Thanks.
Looks like it's down to Tekken, DOA, or Street Fighter (or maybe StreetXTekken) now.
As a long time soul calibur fan I agree. SC5 was a mess, they took all the good aspects of SC4 and flipped them upside down. Other than stunning graphics and a cool character create mode, SC5 was a step backwards from SC4 IMO.
Apparently competitive fighting fans loved SC5 for more technical reasons, and that you couldn't mash or something? I dunno it felt like there was input delay and all sorts of other things.
I really like how all the DLC for tekken is supposedly going to be free. Sounds like the devs know how to please the fans.
Wow, great to hear. And yes, TT2 was definitely a gem in the PS2's early days. I had so much fun playing it with my friends. The bowling was pretty fun too lol.
…but Famitsu is like way left field compared to western critics. Didn't they give Ninja Gaiden 3 all 9's as well? or, ahem, Final Fantasy XIII?
I'm not sold, have any of you played the demo that is with Tekken Hybrid, it was awful! But then again I have not truly enjoyed Tekken since Tekken Tag 1 & That was because it took the perfect gameplay of Tekken 3, fantastic graphics and it runs at the perfect framerate. But if people enjoyed the over the top anime fest that was Tekken 6, I'm sure this'll be a treat for them.
So what was awful about it exactly?
looks tight
not exactly surprising, anything from japan famitsu spills their beans over!
might end up picking it up later on in the year, not now far too many games releasing around the same time.
Regardless of any review scores, I'm still gonna pick this up 🙂 Been waiting for so long!!!
