Last month, it was briefly believed that the long-anticipated PlayStation 3 exclusive, The Last Guardian , had been canceled.
But as various Sony representatives clarified, the game is actually still in development, although we remain concerned. In the most recent update, we learned that the team actually had to go back and redo parts of the game . That sounds a little ominous, in truth.
Now, we have what might be a new development, although you'll have to do some legal interpreting. According to a information obtained at Trademarkia , it seems Sony has filed a "New Application" trademark for the title in question. Here's the status update:
"…status on the THE LAST GUARDIAN trademark changed to NEW APPLICATION – RECORD INITIALIZED NOT ASSIGNED TO EXAMINER."
The trademark is also listed as "active," which is in contrast to what we saw that sparked the cancellation rumor. Thing is, the last trademark filing didn't appear to be active anymore, so perhaps this update for a "new application" is good news. We're just hoping we see more of the game this month at the Tokyo Game Show…cross your fingers.
P.S. Thanks, BikerSaint!
