Dishonored Encourages You To Get All Creative With Killing

Dishonored is going to be one hell of a game. Have we said that before?

Yet another gameplay video has come to us from publisher Bethesda and developer Arkane Studios, and this one focuses on something super cool and wildly intriguing: Creative Kills.

The whole point of a game like Dishonored is freedom and choice; the ability to approach an obstacle or target however you see fit. And when it comes to the numerous and diverse skills of an assassin endowed with supernatural gifts…well, you can bet that there will be many opportunities to experiment. Blend weapons, gadgets, and otherworldly gifts to eliminate your foes in impressive fashion!

I'm really liking what I'm seeing, but my wallet isn't. So many cool games coming out soon.

I can tell this is going to be the gem that no one played 🙁

What!? How about the gem that everyone is going to play. How about 4 million sold this holiday season because of incredible reviews. This game will sell well if it lives up to it's reputation. There are a ton of gamers looking for a new exciting franchise right now.

There be a thumb down fairy in the building. All I was saying is I feel like this will get drown out with the CoD, MoH and other sequels being released this holiday. Not that I want it to fail but it is sad that this will probably be overlooked. I hope I am wrong though.

I'm going to buy it, my wallet is crying because I have so many sequels I want and now this looks legitimately great.

No problem, I know what you mean. I was just playing the glass is half full guy! 🙂 I hope it sells well because it sure looks special.

All the slowing down and repositioning the enemy seem like it would lessen my immersion level to a minor degree. Thankfully, there are many other ways to vanquish foes. I'll still be getting it day 1 regardless.

Wow – earlier I've gotten Thief-vibes, now I get Bioshock vibes. This just looks amazingly cool.

Thief was basically only about stealth. This is definitely more like Bioshock.

I dunno Ben everything I've read says you can opt for stealth a la Deus Ex, which these guys have worked on.

I think their goal was to give variety back to the player. Which this video seams to show a lot of. I also read like World that they are letting you opt for stealth, pure action, and more tactical choices.

This sure looks like a cool action/stealth/tactics game. I remember System Shock 2 was kind of like that. You could play with biotic implants or go guns blazing. There have been many games since of course. It's nice to see options again. Deus Ex HR is another great example.

You can definitely opt for stealth. My point is that it wasn't really an option in Thief, if I remember correctly. At least, not to this level of choice in Dishonored.

It looks to me like stealth/rogue style gameplay is favoured in this game. But it's not only the gameplay that has reminded me of Thief. No, it's just as much – or even more – the sound, atmosphere and artwork.

Thief was obviously without the steampunk elements, but the medieval look with the stone brick castles and tall ceilings and guards and dark atmosphere and all that stuff gives me flashback galore.

You can tell it won't be a graphics powerhouse but I don't really care, go back and play Bioshock it actually looks terrible. The fun is in the atmosphere and gameplay.

Oooooh it looks so good. I love the one where he puts the guy in front of his own bullet. And the "Willard" vibe with the rats. This will not be a game to be played casually, it will need full attention. Can't wait!

I agree with you, full attention required! They should put that on the front of the box! 🙂

4 million sold during a holiday season with many other established titles available will be difficult to attain. I think that number is too high.

Hopefully that won't be the case, Bethesda is just publishing.
